Planning a fear and loathing type road trip
#7688895 - 11/28/07 12:09 AM (16 years, 2 months ago) |

A very close friend of mine and fellow psychonaut is going for a semester abroad in Australia leaving january 1st. So to send him off right we are planning a fear and loathing style hallucinogen filled road trip culminating at the 2gether as one rave which ends just hours before his flight to australia. It is still in the very beginning stages of planning but heres what we have so far.
Amass a collection of highly controlled illicit substances including but not limited to. Mescaline; MDMA; 2CI; DMT free base; Ayahuasca; LSD; Psilocybin Mushrooms; DXM; Amanita Muscaria; Cocaine; Ketamine; Nitrous; Salvia Divinorum; and of course copious quantities of herb and beer.
Document the trip with photo, video, and tape recorder. See what happens.
So you get the general idea. I will post my findings in this thread when the journey takes place. I realize this is incredibly unsafe and irresponsible and no one should every attempt something like this ever. But hey you only live once...
Has anyone ever done anything like this before. Any advice, tips suggestions. Also if anyone can recommend dietary supplements would be much appreciated.

I've been on road trips getting fucked up the whole time but not with that many drugs! It's really risky, but some of the best times of my life are taking road trips with friends and just cruising the open road passing joints. It's also really badass if you have an awesome destination.
Good luck man, be careful and have a safe trip!!

NO NO NO NO NO!
Do NOT do this!
If you DO decide to do this, then if you get busted, take ALL the fall for your friend. Don't even let him take the fall for a joint!
If he gets a criminal record, he won't be able to leave the country. How's that to screw up his Australian plans?
That's not loss of student loans bad, this is loss of dreams and a lot of cash bad.

You're forgetting the meth. It's not really fear and loathing until you add the joys of amphetamine psychosis to the experience.

i've never understood why dxm has such a bad rep around here. The fatalities are caused by taking dxm syrup with other ingredients, or mixing with MAOI and stuff.

The fact that you are planning it to be a fear and loathing type road trip inherently makes it unlike fear and loathing.

I'm always leery on telling anyone of my plans/goals (psychedelic or not) before I actually do them. It may be one of my things, but if I were doing a project that involves a lot of time and effort, and I tell everyone of it, it is as if I lose the energy to do it.
Other people that cannot see your intentions in the same manner as you, have a way of making goals and ideas seem less important or disappear altogether. Of course, this pertains to long term goals, but your FLLV trip is a goal as well.
I'm not telling you that you should not do it, I'm saying the best thing would have been to do it first, then tell your story and provide a lot of crazy pictures!;)

I've been an Oxycontin road trip (Seattle to LA), that was relaxing. It sounds like you have way too many uppers, downers, stilmulants and depressants. With that said, can I come?

Im starting to realize that the majority of the drug users who SAW that movie for the first time....(Including myself ) only herd and saw one thing, drugs, and MORE DRUGS.
Now that im sober it sickens me to see people take a movie that has a much deeper meaning then JUST drugs to an extent to where it might land them in prison.
Best of luck to ya....you will need it. Good Vibes anyway

Sounds good, but I feel like you're missing something...specifically, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls.

Funny you posted this. I'm putting together a similar trip right now. I've been stockpiling acid/shrooms/mj/molly for a few months. My friend is straight edge and also a professional poker player. We've always wanted to make a road trip together across the country. So our plan is to just drive and crash at casinos along the way. I'm not saying I wanna be out of my mind the entire trip. But I'd love to see the grand canyon at sunset on a head full of acid. And lets face it, casinos have the trippiest fucking shit all over the place. So best of luck to you, and don't die. Hopefully sometime we can share trip reports. I'm also going to document my experiences on tape and video.

Remember, as long as you give the cop no reason to search your car never allow him to. Keep everything hidden, just be smart. I would recommend stopping at rest areas and hang out, that can be fun.

Yeah...the speech about the 60's and Leary and the 'light at the end of the tunnel' when he's in the hotel room is one of the saddest and truest monologues I have ever heard about drugs and the counterculture movement.
Idk why Fear and Loathing would inspire you to do what they did in the movie, it worked out pretty terrifying for them...but hey if that's your thing go for it.

on the whole fear and loathing thing, it's not that what i was inspired to mimic fear and loathing, it's more of a think i want to experience with my friend who's going to australia, i just used the fear and loathing description because its the most analogous think i could think of to describe what i'll be doing.
as far as the purpose of the trip goes, it's not to get as fucked up as possible otherwise we would have chose different drugs that do that much better. what i hope to get out of it is some direction, something to guide me out of the malaise and apathy i've experienced recently. and unlike hunter s thompson i still desperately believe that there is some force tending the light at the end of the tunnel.

This thread made me laugh! If this guy doesn't drive off a cliff or end up in jail for accidently running over a school group,he will end up writing about all his experiences. The catch is, no one will be interested because Hunter Thompson has already been there/done that...

Cocaine promotes violence and death in the process to get it to the user, that's why you should skip it. Plus I don't think with that amount of psychedelics you would even want to THINK about cocaine, but who knows, all I know is myself.

Fuck it. Take the coke. Skip the aya.
What would possess anyone to take aya on a road trip is beyond me.

So what the fuck happened? It has been for ever and no updates. I see that the poster was on not too long ago. What ever happened. Apparently you didn't die or get sent up state. I hope all went well.

Cocaine promotes violence and death? Instead I'd argue the innate greed, selfish materialism, and lack of concern for others in PEOPLE promotes violence and death when associated with such chemical siren calls as cocaine.

Why the fuck would you want to induce fear within yourself? Do you not understand that the negative aspects also correlate with destruction? You may very well lose your mind begging for more than you can bargain for.
I'm not telling you how to live your life, just asking you to re-evaluate your plans to make sure this is what you really want, and more importantly, need.

I find the unexpected fear present in alot of my shroom trips really makes me grow, but while I experience them, it is hell. Only retrospect gives value to such a thing. And while I'm tripping I would certainly rather have an all over pleasant trip.
That being said, I don't think the OP intends to induce fear. I think it's more about traveling to a far away destination doing psychoactives to enhance the experience and his connection with his friend. Any fear, like in FAL, is just a known side-effect.

I understand what you mean. My fear usually makes me focus on whatever the fuck is scaring me and I can't get it off my mind until I understand what exactly just happened. However, long periods of this can be mind shattering, so be warned. You may become out of it for quite a long time. If it's worth it to put all this stress on yourself to find what you are seeking faster, than by all means have some bread with your wine.

yeah, it's a trip that's meant to be enjoyed, i'm not too worried about the fear as it's usually not a part of my trips. it's going to be something i'll never forget and i'm sure many great stories that's why i'm doing it.

nice. I am glad you didn't get popped with all that you had. Ha ha ha. Nice pic by the way. Tool anyone? I saw them in concert in Kansas City last time they came through. It was delicious. Manerd came out with a cowbow getup on with an ATF jacket on and took his hat off and had a mohawk. It was awesome.
