Morning glory seeds sends teen to hospital
November 27, 2007 - post-trib.com

VALPARAISO -- A Valparaiso High School 10th-grader was hospitalized Saturday after consuming morning glory seeds to get high.

The 16-year-old boy's mother called for help around 11:30 p.m. because her son was hallucinating that there were other people -- including a woman bleeding from the head -- in the room with them. In the Porter hospital emergency room, he was pale, his pupils were dilated and he was restless. He refused to say what he had consumed, but hospital staff found a baggy with 11 brown seeds in the teen's pants pocket, according to the police report.

The seeds were popular as a drug in the 1960s for an LSD-like high, although hundreds of seeds must be consumed to get the effect. It has regained popularity in some parts of the nation, especially Ohio and Louisiana, this year.

However, its use had not been seen in this area until this weekend, said Bob Taylor, drug coordinator for the Porter County Prosecutor's Office.

According to the National Capital Poison Center the seeds are poisonous, especially in large quantities. Effects range from diarrhea to hallucinations.

Although the seeds are legal, there is an additional danger in that many of the commercially packaged seeds are treated with a poisonous coating to deter recreational drug use. This coating can cause nausea, vomiting and severe abdominal pain.

I remember being in DARE when i was much younger and some of the stories they would tell you are not only ridiculous, but completely untrue. One story was that a woman was on LSD and thought her infant was a turkey so she baked it in the oven. Now I look back and think thats hilarious, but at the time I guess it scared me.

We need a "war on teens".

And how come EVERYTHING has to be compared to "an LSD-like high". Is the public really so brain-fu#ked that they can only relate to ... an LSD-like high???????....... aaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhhh  :minigun:

LSA is similar to LSD. It makes sense in this case.

And yeah, the mom was deffinitely the one that sent her teen to the hospital. Doesn't sound like there was reason.

"Effects range from diarrhea to hallucinations."

Are those my options?

I suppose I'll take the hallucinations.

Unless he ate them so frequently and in such doses to be able to get ergotism, this hospital stuff is bullshit.

I thought the coating was a fungicide to preserve the life of the seeds.
Do they actually poison the seeds, just in case someone tries to eat them? That's ridiculous that they would go through the trouble to poison their seeds.

Ya ive heard that 'some' people put some kind of substance that intentionally causes nausea and vomiting on any seeds that can be purchased legally, including poppy seeds...

Why? So he his mother could have brought him to the hospital for tripping on HBWR seeds instead of MG seeds? I fail to see how a different drug would have made him act any less idiotic.

No... he shouldn't have bought ANYTHING. Maybe a book on the psychedelic experience, so he could learn about the kind of difficulties he might be faced with during a trip, or maybe the importance of things like SET and SETTING (like...not tripping at home when your mom's around, dude.)

Too bad they don't sell common sense. He could have taken a fat hit of that before the MG seeds and just waited until he was alone to trip.

Ahhh...Vines of the Serpent...

There was no need to go to the hospital- thats just what parents do. I grow tons of Ipomoea Violacea and harvest my own seed pods. Buying ones in the store are less potent and covered in crap.

The only different between semi-syth LSD from LSA is the replacment of two hydrogen atoms in change for two ethly groups (what hoffman did to get LSD from LSA) You only need 2-5mg of LSA to get the full effects of LSA, and LSD is 0.05mg So if you have some decent, fresh MG seeds you can experience the effects with 20 or so seeds. Straing of seeds matter greatly. Some are smaller, more weak and a waste of time.

In mexico they ferment the honey from the MG plants and make an alcohol, Xtabentun or something like that, you can order it online.

the description of effects sounds more like datura.
and the fact that the seeds were id'd by police supports that they were misidentified as well.
the kids not talking.
but never, even on a (lsd-like) dose that the sky and earth are a splooshy wonky fractal dance have i EVER hallucinated a clearly visible human being. thats the hallmark of a
TROPANE-like hallucination

There exists one lie that is the absolute worst. A lie that has successfully infiltrated many of the Western governments. This lie is Christianity, and it must be fought in every way, shape and form. Burn the churches and kill the priests. The abomination that is Christianity must be wiped from this Earth.
