Reccomend Me An SSRI

Well, I've taken Zoloft and Lexapro, but ditched both due to the sexual side-effects and have been going for about 6 months without the use of meds.
I'm thinking of trying another swing at them. Can anyone here reccomend an SSRI that has helped your anxiety, but has not caused any sexual side-effects?
*Please do not say, don't use drugs! Just meditate, exercise, and eat right. I am doing all of those things, but I think I need to be on something for a little while.

SSRIs are shit. I think that they can help some hopefuls out there, but you can see the same results with a placebo. Fuck SSRIs, bro. You can do it without them, it just takes a little practice to get the anxiety under wraps.

5-htp, amino blends, vitamins and eat balanced meals.
I guess fluoxetine for a real SSRI?

hmm..
well, you got me a little bit interested poke
You took this daily, right? Did it feel just like an SSRI? If I skip a day of not taking it, will I experience some bad side-effects?
As much info you can throw at me about your experiences with it would be nice. I might actually go this route.

man, youre going to have to go to a doctor to get a perscription anyways, and none of us are really qualified to tell you what to take, so really, just go see a doctor.

Try St. Francis Herb Farm's Borage 'A' Combo or, the Borage 'B' Combo. Great stuff. I've been taking it lately, a dropper full every day and it's awesome.

My pleasure! Sometimes a little boost is in order, and herbs are a good thing to explore before resorting to pharmaceuticals. This stuff is subtle, it won't tear you into an artificially good mood, but it tonifies your adrenal system and helps your body cope with stress of it's own accord. It provides a good foundation for the internal work that is the real the key to mental health. This sort of treatment helps you have the energy and fortitude to do the internal work. St. Francis Herb Farm makes some of the best combo tinctures I've ever encountered. I don't wanna sound like they're paying me to preach or anything, but I'm definitly impressed with the products of thiers I've tried. The "Deep Immune" Astragalus Combo is also fantastic.
Good luck!

While we're on the anti-psychiatry kick, I highly HIGHLY recommend reading "The Politics of Experience" by R.D. Laing.

Sorry to hear about your situation oliveplume. In the past I used to have issues with depression (most likely due to excessive drug usage over the years), and tried a myriad of SSRI's, none of them worked for me, some of them made me worse-off (for certain) (led me to severe-depression). Read about it man, some people become suicidal from using SSRI's, if I remember correctly they did it to me.
The one I liked least (and was on for a couple years) was Paxil. Paxil = the devil. lol!
On paxil, with sex, it would take me an hour to cum. Not that any of the girls complained, but it was just far too much work me to get off-
I was on a high dosage of the paxil, and moved to China for a while, after a few months being there I ran out of paxil pills.. it was then i realized the actual dangers of using those SSRI's. I'd be walking through the city and all the sudden I would get these "zaps" in my head and throughout my body, almost like being electricuted slightly.. it would almost make me fall over sometimes. dizziness, sickness and all kinds of side effects from going cold turkey off the stuff.. very un-natural. Read about it man, I've read alot of reports of people getting these "zaps", it is nothing to mess with imo.
I can't say I would actually recommend SSRI's for anyone, that is just from my experience. IMO if someone says that an SSRI is helping them cope with their depression than it is just all in their head. All in their head. The chemists that make those drugs dont have the slightest clue what theyre doing imo, and the doctors who prescribe them every-so-liberally are slackers. There should be laws in place already to stop these doctors from handing SSRI scripts out like candy because my guess is that 90% of the patients they perscribe it to do not need it in the first place. Seriously,
I've been to several different psychiatrists. Each one of them would listen to me talk about what I was experiencing for literally less than 5 minutes, and funny enough, each one always diagnosed me with something different and would always just pick a different psychiatric medicine/pill off the top of their heads and put me on it.
Two of those psychiatrists said I was bi-polar. Put me on anti-psychotic meds.. one of them was called Zyprexa. Zyprexa only works for a person if they are bi-polar, so I took the medicine for a while, started feeling better due to things I did to change my life for the better.. thought it was working for me while I am 99.99% certain the Zyprexa did zero for me. I took it for at least 2 years. Eventually I quit taking the stuff because I'm convinced (along with a couple other psychiatrists and therapists) I am not bi-polar. Feeling better and better each day since I've been off it, so, I basically said I gave psychiatric medicine a damn good chance to work for me, it didnt work, I quit taking them, I feel better now so wtf?
To recap, I'm not sure what to recommend for you, but I would not recommend a SSRI to basically anyone.

John Breeding is def. awesome!!
I could never in good conscious recommend someone a prescription SSRI (for other reasons than I'm not qualified to )

Since you wanted an SSRI recommendation, Oliveplume.
I'd say Celexa / Citalopram. I can sleep at night now without terrible anxiety, wake up without severe depression, and have had no sexual side-effects.
The only side effects I've noticed are blue sparklies in my vision field when it's dark, which I don't mind, and a craving for sweets.
Indeed, weight-gain is listed as one of the biggest side-effects of this drug, however I've actually lost weight, despite a new passion for doughnuts.
I've been motivated to go to the gym and I bought and regularly ride a bicycle now. I wouldn't have been able to get motivated like this without it.
I hope this helps.
