Ok here is the idea.. its for the Roll paret of the dunk and roll..
place a thin layer of moist verm on some foil and once the dunk is done, wrap the cake in the foil.. then remove the foil after a few days.. My thoughts are humidity, and getting the verm to stick better..

The only way to know if it will work is to try it. That said, be careful not to have the verm come off with the foil when you remove it. Obviously, that would be the biggest problem.

You would be setting up the perfect environment for contaminants to get a foothold in the foil wrapped cake that is no longer sterile. RR

That much vermiculite isn't necessary. Besides, if there's too much, light won't be able to penetrate it for knots to form.

yeah but fully colonized cakes a very resistant to contam. I guess that it may be a little riskier.. maybe ill try it... see how it works..

Before you try anything like that, you should determine what you are trying to achieve by having a thick layer of vermiculite surrounding the cake. A thin layer will do the same as a thick layer. If you use a thick layer, it will just cause the mycelium to attempt to colonize it, delaying the entire process, without adding anything beneficial. Will it really accomplish anything? Try not to over-complicate things. The concept of replicating the perfect conditions of your grows are fairly simple, and are best achieved through simple approaches.

Just a heads up....
Mycelium metabolites will try to digest and colonize the aluminum foil, which means the foil will stick to the mycelium... when you go to remove the foil, you might get some tearing of the mycelium, which could insult your pinning surface.
Just a thought. Almost anything's worth a try!

don't forget to strive to accomplish things with experimenting
i've fruited uncountable amounts of cakes and i've only ever rolled 2 of them and they both got trich after the 2nd flush whereas i've never had any other cake get any type of contam
i didn't see that rolling did much for cakes other than giving the enemy somewhere to setup base
though i will say, i can understand the concept and different things work for different people
but if you wrap up your cakes in foil and starve them of FAE you're prolly looking at a pretty bad contam rate
what i would be interested in seeing is a cake wrapped up in wax paper or some other type of cellulose containing material
