They are pretty awesome.  They used to have red pandas at the Memphis zoo (My favorite zoo I've been to so far) but it was very rare for them to be out so you could see them.  I'm not sure if we still have them but we do have 2 beautiful regyoolar Pandas.

I went to the zoo in D.C. and their pandas were so fuckin far away from the path you could barely just see a spot of white it seemed like.  Our pandas are right up next to you so you can see them real well, and they don't even act like you're there.  I saw one eat its own shit one time  with a Chinese dude standing next to it writing on a clipboard

EDIT: When I was really young (3 or 4) my grandmother would put a kiddie leash on me because I liked to wander and she didn't want me wandering off and getting lost.  I did get lost alot without that leash though so its probably a good thing.

Reminds me of holding the knotted rope when my sunday-school class got in line to go somewhere

Yeah, we were able to get pretty close to him. We were probably only about six feet away. He didn't seem the least bit intimidated by us. He was pretty much just strutting his shit the whole time I was taking pics.

I guess in some cases the leashes probably are a good idea. This particular family looked to have several kids. It's just not the kind of thing I see too often. Kinda makes me glad my parents never had me on a leash.

I'm glad in a way that the DID have me on a leash. If they hadn't theres no telling where I'd have wandered off to. I was an adventurous little kid.

I always hate seeing little kids on leashes...its so demeaning.

Did the parents do some Cesar Milan shit, too? "tssst!"

Would you rather the kid get lost in a massive crowd of people, crying its eyes out due to the sheer terror of the idea of never finding its family again?

They are pretty neat but the way things are going there won't be any in the wild in a few decades. Nice pictures.

Thank you.

Yeah, I saw a show about them not too long ago. It was talking about how they're only in a small part of India and a small part of China. I forget whether it said they were endangered or close to it or what. But I hope it doesn't go that way. They're really cool animals.

It's just kinda weird that they're considered pandas since they look nothing like the giant panda. I think they look more like a raccoon

Yeah, actually the Giant Panda is not a bear as most people assume. It is actually a member of the raccoon family (as is the red panda).

Red pandas are definitely awesome. I've seem them at several zoo's over the years. Here is a pic I took at Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City two years ago...

And here is a pic of the giant panda at San Diego Zoo from last year.

I like that pic because the tree is in focus and the panda is not...the tree was much more exciting the the fucking panda!! Seriously, that thing could've been dead and you wouldn't know the difference. And its the same fucking story every time I've looked at it. I swear they feed those things xanax or something!

To get a view of the giant panda up close and active, you should visit the memphis zoo if you're ever in the area. Its one bad-ass zoo. The habitats look inredible and roomy enough and the animals are almost always out and about. I've been to 4 zoos I can think of off the top of my head and none campare to the Memphis zoo. St. Louis zoo is pretty good too I thouth.
