Like most people you cannot force them to do anything.. You can scare them into believing that without High School you will be a failure but there are numerous people who have succeeded without. Best idea for anyone I could personally give to someone is to show him that the odds of an American succeeding the without a diploma or GED are quite slim, although he could always join the AIRFORCE.... AIM HIGH!?!? what....

Your his older brother eh? Do what is necessary of you. Kick his ass left and right relentlessly, sadly you will have to become the alpha male now.

alpha male? what is this nonsense.. I'm so glad some of you aren't my relatives. I think if my older brother ever came down on me like that, I would not trust him. It would ruin our relationship. I would probably also feel like hurting him. I think if that's a brothers attitude whether older or younger he's the one who needs to be quiet and learn his place.

hahaha he could also become a crack cocaine dealer and get very rich. beat him every day so you can get 50 % of the profits.
this thread is out of hand. seriously the kid needs a reality check. does he seriously believe that HS will not help him in the future?
there is no excuse IMO to not finish high school its so easy and very worth it.

kick his ass out and make him support himself. he's addicted to his own procrastination, i was like that when i was 17 and now i'm an A student in college, the last two semesters i got a 4.0. but for two semesters before that, i had dropped out of school in the middle of the year, told my parents to FUCK THEMSELVES, and moved out of the house and in with my boyfriend. I had a job as a burrito slave.
needless to say i realized that i hated the bottom of the working world, i never had time for my friends, i was depressed and isolated and lonely and i was too tired to even smoke pot.
by the end of the year i went back to school, and my parents gave me money so i wouldn't work.
if you kick your brother out he might follow the same pattern and go to school for money and free time purposes.
or he will start selling drugs, not see you for a few years, make a bunch of money that he will waste on strippers and booze, and then get busted, which will either crush him or force him to shape up.

It's incredible how many people here are making such quick judgements and conclusions about someone they don't even know. Still, even if he was some low life how does that make it his brothers business?
You just don't recognize you're messing with a human life. Taken seriously, this type of judgement is totally out of line.
People need to be slow to speak, and do not judge lest ye be judged. And that applies to me too. This really ticks me off. This reminds me of the sme sort of harrasment I got from my family, when I really needed someone that was willing to listen and help me and be sensetive to my needs. It pushes people further away, and I would understand if someone wanted to beat his older brother up for calling the cops. Not that I would do that myself or condone it.

What's outrageous is how everyone speaks as if being an older brother gives him the right to judge his brother and threaten him.
do not judge lest ye be judged.

i've asked this same question so many times. but for me its my younger sister. lost her mind. droppped out her sr year of high school after being ecpelled time after time. wont get a job, steals [from family] lies, gets into some really dangerous shit.. like you going to jail type of shit, and my mom is going crazy. she worries so much. my sister lies in bed til 4pm takes a shower goes out and comes back 3 days later at 6am and does it all over again. its too much.
so i guess i'm saying hang in there, and there is always something else you can try. i would have kicked her ass out a long time ago, but i know my moms.
