Will this type of Peat Moss do?

It is Sphagnum Peat Moss by Miracle Grow... The reason I'm asking is because it says " enriched with Miracle Grow plant food," will the addition of plant food hurt anything? Its the only kind of peat moss I can find. Also would it be better to have more peat, more verm, or just straight 50/50 ? Thanks for you help...

-------------------- I don't know but I've been told. It's hard to run with the weight of gold On the other hand I heard it said. It's just as hard with the weight of lead.

I think the major probleme with peat based soil mix is that it often contains dolomitic lime which is harmul to the mycelium. For example you can see on the pro-mix website that their pro-mix BX product as both type of lime in it, maybe you could check that with the prooduct you have. If you can't I suggest using pure peat and pure verm. I don't know where are you living but in my ares the only places I could find a buffer were brewing stores. They usually sell calcium carbonate as ''Gypsum''
Hope this help

ok heres the ingredients : peat moss, ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, calcium phosphate, and potassium sulfate.
nitrogen (N) 0.05% phosphate 0.02% potash 0.04%
also I do have some calcium carb to add to the mix...
here is a link to what I have if it helps at all... http://www.miraclegro.com/index.cfm/event/ProductGuide.product/documentId/11CC330DB8AFDF6F56C6A30C5607927C

Peat is just decomposed Spangum i think (correct me if im wrong). I've used both those in a mix of coir, verm, cow/horse dung and never did anything to adjust the PH. But prehaps because i added so much other stuff. IDK

well a few months ago i had three trays, two of which i cased with 50/50 verm and peat moss, then one with straight vemrm.
the peatmoss two contam'd and the verm. prevailed
a better bet would be Miracle grow moisture control i like the little moisture releasing balls
sometimes i case with a mix of 50/50 verm/MGMC with no problems MGMC tends to turn into a kind of hard surface that makes harvesting alot easier

I'm guessing the two that you spawned with peat moss got trich, right? Read me.
Whether or not you sterilize your casing layer is a matter of debate, but it certainly MUST be pasteurized thoroughly...
I have had near 100% luck sterilizing my casing constituents for cubensis. I probably wouldn't do the same for A. bisporus though.
