The Last Mushroom Story of the Season.... Sigh.....

It was a cold and blustery day. Family was visiting from out of town, and as family so often does.... they needed shrooms.
So we packed up the car and headed out into the wilds of the greater Puget Sound urban environs.
The weather was much, much too harsh for any but the hardiest souls. Just to show off, this Hawk bathed in plain view...

(I don't know if it was the cold or what, but that bird's got TINY nads, or so we agreed. )
And of course, where's there's nudity, there's voyerism.

We were so titillated, so enthralled by the sheer sluttiness of this Hawk, that we lost our way... before we knew it, we were lost deep in a dark forest, our feet slogging through the sog...
It wasn't long before we spotted our first sign post....

And it turned out to be a post directing us to a grim and horrible place.

A place where mushrooms go to die...

...where cyanescens deliquess into gooey, sinister demon-poo.

Terrified, we ran away... shielding our eyes from the horror...

We ran for what seemed like DAYS....
Past the Deadly Pholiotina Filaris Forest:

Then... Suddenly, we saw a bunny. We followed her out of the woods, across a road, and into a nice, friendly park...

It wasn't long before we realized we were back on the right track....

We came upon some very wise old mushrooms, holding court in a clearing:

Our liaison gently grasped the one they called 'king' and asked for help.

He called his minions, and charged them with the task of leading us out of the wilds of the Great Puget Sound's Urban environs and back to the land of 'normal'.

The mushrooms aligned themselves along a magical path, illuminating our way...

We followed closely.

And lo - and behold.... eventually, we made it through.
Well...Most of us...
Alas, good Old Cousin Frank is trapped there still....

He was last seen humming 'Us and Them' from 'Dark Side of the Moon' and holding this tiny little purple-spored shroom....

Can YOU identify it?!

God help him....

twas indeed a pellicle. I thick, nasty bugger. twas indeed a tiny little mushroom... much much smaller than typical p.pelliculosa - But I suspect that's what it was. It was a psilocybe, in any case... I'd stake my resuscitation on it.
Till next season... Happy holidays all. oh, and Landsnorkler, you can be my daughter anytime.
