so I was in Wisconsin for the holiday and ran into this brand of beer that has all of Ralph steadman's art on it. surprisingly I've never seen it here in Chicago, which is odd. maybe I've just been to the wrong places anyways, the one I took a picture of cost 12 bucks for 4 beers was too poor to try it but wonder if its any good, could just be cool packaging

It's very good. Haven't had it in a while but I think I remember it having higher alcohol content than most beers. It's a Flying Dog beer and Ralph Steadman does the art for all of their beer varieties. I believe Flying Dog is brewed in Denver, CO.

The owner of Flying Dog was HST's neighbor and friend.
It's pretty good.

Thompson mentions the guy and his beer in one of his books, can't remember which one... but I think it's Generation of Swine... maybe.

ahhh thanks for the info man next time I have some money to burn I'll go buy some and see how it is
reading the great shark hunt, strange tales from a strange time atm long ass book, but his writing makes me fly through it. the only part that dragged a little was the Watergate section, but it was interesting nonetheless

hmm, I think that was actually one about a sailing contest when Ralph was there and they almost got caught painting some foul phrase on one of the boats I haven't finished the one I'm talking about yet, but I dont think ralph is with him and hes loaded on acid + coke from the sounds of it. he went back after his scuba accident to write the article for playboy. but he also wanted to go back because he hid like 50 MDA pills before his scuba accident anyways I'm rambling and the point being here is nothing really except its a good one

That's probably what I'm thinking of, and I'm just mixing up two stories.
I read it a while ago.

Is the story about him scaring the shit out of Jack Nicholson and his family in that one?
I love that story.

No, that's in Kingdom of Fear.
He went to Jack's house in the middle of the night and shot off a giant flare that lit up the whole valley, then started playing a track of pigs getting slaughtered on some huge sound system while shooting guns into the air. Then he went in front of the house and left a frozen elk heart on his front step, while Jack and his family locked themselves in the basement thinking a stalker was trying to get into the house.

Thompson was pissed because he thought they were ignoring him, but in reality the Nicholson family was scared they were about to get murdered.

Hey, I want some... Looks like it'd be pretty awesome for the novelty value, as well as you guys saying that it tastes pretty good. I must hunt down a few bottles!
