i have my chamber set up for fruiting cakes on perlite. It has a computer fan on the lid and fresh air coming in via a tropic air humidifier. so my question is should i have still drilled holes i the chamber? everything is good,RH,temp, everything except the FAE (fresh air exchange) will what i have do or do i need to make modifications? SO anyone that can help would be appreciated.

If the fresh air is coming in via a tropic air humidifier, then what's the fan for? When I hear of drilling holes and things of the such, I almost automatically think "Monotub". If you're using perlite to fruit cakes, then the only thing you really have to worry about is supplying the fresh air exchange without dropping the RH. If you have the thermometer and hygrometer in place, then you should just keep on eye on them. If you're RH drops every time you provide the fresh air exchange and takes a long time to get back up then you have to think of a different way to humidify. Do you have pics of your set up?

No pics rite now. the fan i was thinking would be to suck out the co2 once a day or so. and with the tropic air humidifier if it does not affect the RH can i leave it on all the time or is there such a thing as to much fresh air? should i scrap the fan and just put holes in it? the fan may end up sucking out all the heat and humidity? will have pics up very soon

I don't think that sucking air out is as beneficial as putting air in. C02 is heaver than 02, thus will settle at the bottom. The tropic air will do it's best to keep humidity up, but won't do half as well as the perlite. I would put holes in the chamber and fill it with polyfill. If you really want to use that fan, I would turn it around and have it push air in for about 5 minutes 8 times a day. (put it on a timer to turn on every 3 hours). The fan will pull in fresh air and C02 will be expelled at the pollyfill stuffed holes. I would still keep an eye on the Hygrometer to make sure your RH is still in the high 90's.

Hey! You have the makings for a real nice setup there! I'm not saying to ditch what you have there, but take a look at a tek I did a while back. I have had about 5 people take from the idea and do their own thing. Great success! Just a thought.

The tropic air thing was one of the first teks I tried and It didn't come close to doing what I wanted it to do. Here is a pic of that venture with faliure.
Looked good, but that was about it.
