A high pH will slow down trichoderma, as well as helping to prevent trich spores from germinating. It also stresses mushroom mycelium, which prefers a lower pH, but not as much. The mushroom mycelium is more tolerant of high pH than most molds.

Well if I mist with plain water from now on will the damage from the bleach be significant?

I swear I read a thread talking about how this guy used bleach and got a really good pinset or something.

and isn't bleach ph 10?

resp

you do remember that acids are the low side of the PH scale right?
so basically what i told you is right

budman
i believe the thread you're talking about was just a coincidence
he prolly just got a good pinset luckily even though he bleached it

based on the amount of bleach I used on that first mist, misting plain water from now on

Like I did not somehow ruin my whole grow did I?

Cause if not then I can chill =P

No way did you ruin it. I have worked alongside w/ sublimemushead on this and seen some crazy results. Any time I have had a hard time initiating I have sprayed (once, don't over kill) and got my knots.

Remember, it is all on you to go through w/ your own experiments. If you use a method you are unfamiliar w/ just go w/ one or two casings.
Don't throw all your grow into a experimental process. Go small, see if you find any result, then expand. Don't let other deter you from hands on experience.

This was done with side by sides using an isolated clone, luck is such an assumption.

Yeah, the pH thing, I always get it backwards. Low#=acid 7.5neutral High#alkaline. OK, I branded it into my skull.

I disagree. I think it's important to assume the results are not from what we suspect until after many trials. That's just good science. I've posted for years that ten percent bleach won't kill mushroom mycelium(or molds), but I have never noticed an increase in performance after using it. I'm not saying there isn't a correlation either, but the jury needs to remain out until more trials by other growers come in. Research is how we all learn. Good luck to all!

I have been receiving updates w/ pics. And sometimes see for my own eyes. Personal friend.(Sublime that is) This is the only reason I say that someone unrelated to our experiment should not call for luck if you don't understand the practice( meaning in his set up{sublime}).
I know that a pic doc. right up is going on and I can't wait for him to publish it. But I do you feel you RR, I know that sublime quotes by you and has turned me onto your work, w/ several other old hands I respect what you are saying.

I had this big 5 gallon bucket fulla water that I already added some bleach to but its not a strong amount at all and it sat for many days so most of it probably evapped anyway,

so I just have been using that water. Should see some pinnage soon.

Ahh I got some green >.< God damn it 3 trays so far I have sighted green on.

I leave my green house zipper t4 green house's unzipped all the way so that was suppose to be enough air exchange but apparently that must be the problem.

So now i will leave them open and fann it out 1 time may be 2 times a day.

1 tray has some good looking pins though gosh I hope most make it this stressful stuff.

If you're getting green prior to first flush, the problem is your spawn, not your open greenhouse. Air exchange is great, but it won't make up for contmainated spawn.

Looks like bulk addition. Are 100% on your pasterization.

Yea it could be poor pasturisation cause its to rainy to get dry poo so its hard to cook it to the center.

I guess I will cook smaller amounts at a time darn it.

Sometimes this is what we must do if conditions aren't right. I have many methods I have been using my oven with myco bags, keeping a candy thermometer in the center of just one. About every hr I spray them down really well, if not the whole bulk dries up. I also use this method to incubate my Actinomyces and beneficial's(125*-130* for 2 days).
