Building my PmP, aeration and co2 extraction.
    #7682305 - 11/26/07 03:47 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

HI everyone,

It's time to make my fruiting chamber and I'M thinking of a system that could provide lot of air circulation.
What I want to do is to seal every leak in my 118L rubbermaid
(specially the leak caused by lid)by placing polyfill everywhere. In addition to that I would make a big hole right over the lava rock and use an air pump to EXTRACT the air. I'll also add a fan aiming toward one of the rubbermaid's wall to provide indirect air flow. what do you think? I wonder if it's a bad idea to suck very humid air with an electrical aquarium air pump and also if the air flow created by the fan could bring a contam in the fc.

Let me now your opinion/advices.
THC

Why are you sealing it up? You want FAE. I also want to see the spore than can go down, then go back up in between a lid and the container :smile:. The big hole probably needs polyfill. Probably why people separate their humidity and FAE needs when you have them outside the tub. If you have a fan blowing into your FC from the outside, you want a filter of some kind tyvek or some such in between it and the FC.

Hi, thx for replying,

And don't want to seal it up I just want all the holes to be filled with polyfill so when the air is coming from the outside it get filtered. Another question, what does FAE stands for? I know it mean fanning...something

FAE == Fresh Air Exchange. I was just saying that your probably don't want your polyfil to be wet all the time. Could lead to wicking of contams. So the idea of a filter between the outside and moist air blowing in leaves me kinda wary. I'll try to explain with ASCII art

|_| || X <--
tub filter fan moist air from some source

So that's what I'm envisioning. In this setup your filter will be perpetually wet and block most of the moisture.

Thx for the precision blarg,

I did not thought about that issue, it's prone to contamination like letting wet verm on the edge of pf-tek jars. I'll just close the lid witout adding anything.
Yeah we have the same clear rubbermaid but I use this one reversed to make a glove box.

The fan with just a filter and no moisture going through the fan would be a good idea. FAE is a big thing in shrooms. The humidity can be accomplished with perlite or bubble stones/wands or even misting.
