Black Widows!

I just wanted to mention that yesterday while picking in a field, I decided to bring home a nice cow pie that had some monster shrooms on it.
I picked the shrooms, picked up the cow pie, turned it over to look for mycelium, and a big black widow spider near my fingers fell off the cowpie and landed on the grass on its back, red hourglass showing wayyy too clearly. Talk about a bad vibe!
watch out for spiders! I am in north florida, but they grow everywhere in the south.
Keep on shroomin and dont get too greedy!
Peace!

On my first batch of B+, a spider that was 100% red randomly showed up in my terranium in the closet and starting making webs between mushrooms.... I had not seen a 100% bright red spider until then... It was probably eating the flies that lived in the terranium too though... Not sure which came first...
Black widows look crazy. A perfect geometrical hourglass... Is it perfect, straight lines?

That could have been a red widow, which If I am correct is a red spider with a black hourglass...I think they are found in florida only...

You're thinking of the Redback Spider, only found in Australia. They are black with a red stripe/line on their backs.

I did this once, but it was a scorpion instead. I dropped the cow pie back down with the scorpion under it, The shrooms still needed growing so i couldnt pick them out of the pie, and i couldnt flip it over without damaging them. So I jabbed a stick into the shit pile and moved it that way. Like a shit lollipop.

Scorpions can't kill you or anything, they just hurt. It's like a really sharp burning pain that goes away within 5-10 minutes. A catfish sting is much much more painful.
I couldn't help but think... what a horrible home that would be... living under a piece of cow shit.. that would just suck(erm... smell).

Hi Spoonman, I too have warned people about this before. I also turned over a cow-pie at a dairyt farm in Jacksonville, Florida only to find a female black widow staring at my hand.
mj
Mocassins are also lurking in swampoy pasture areas and eastern diamondbacks have been seen when I had gone picking.

They are EVERYWHERE here in TEXAS...I rented out a storage unit last year and when I opened the door, it was full of Black Widows....When I say full, I mean like 20 adults and 100,000's of babies.
It was creepy

Ive been having some run-ins with some spiders lately for some reason myself. Not when I was looking for shrooms, but when I have already ate them. Let me tell you something: Looking into a mirror and seeing a 2 inch diameter black spider with long thick legs right on you're jugular is one of the SCARIEST fucking things of all time. This happend to me last week after hiking through the forest at night until 12 am.
Now, think your having a great time shroomin with you and 2 of your friends down at the swimmin hole, and all of a sudden feel something crawling on your back, and BANG, an electiric type shock running through your back feeling like you just got stung by a hornet...
OK let me say something. I have never been bit by a spider that actually hurt, but I was not just tripping or anything but this spider fucking hurt so bad I freaked out and thought I was going to die. On shrooms this is relaly not fun. We didnt know if we should have gone to a poison control or anything becuase I had a huge red welt on my back. I never got a good look at the spider cause I stepped on it in the sand right afterwrards. Then I just laied down and started to panic which wasnt a good idea.
Im still alive now but my back was sore for a good 4 days.
Watch out for dem spiders!

man oh man, once while trippin nuts (actually the first trip last summer) my mom was out of town and she wanted me to watch her dogs. so we decided to chill at my mas house (its clean) we went for a walk and i had forgotten to put the dogs back inside. so to save time i just went through the back yard. the gate to the back yard has a bunch of vines growing above it (terrice?) and a spider decided that it would be a badass place to catch flies. it was right about face height and when i walked through the gate my face went right throughit. it rapped around my head and i started screaming like a little girl. and to top it off for the rest of the night my friends girlfriend would move her fingers lightly on my exposed skin mimiking a spider. scary shit...

Aww shit, don't get me started on spiders, theres is nothing more I hate than spiders, nothing. Its the sole reason I wouldn't move to fla, the spiders are thicker than flys on shit down there! I've had my share of black widow encounters, snakes too.
This year I was actually bitten by a copperhead and almost bitten by a cotton mouth. I work on a river and have to climb banks full of tall weeds all day long, day after day. I was crawling up the bank one day about a month ago and out of the corner of my eye saw movement and I looked down and saw a copperhead strike my foot(I was bare footed) It bit me on the knuckle behind my big toe and just barely grazed me and broke a little skin. I ran so fucking fast after that fucker struck at me, when I stopped running I looked down and saw bite marks on my foot and freaked. I didn;t do anything about it because it was obviously not a good solid bite, it barely got me, and because I know that copperhead bites aren't that serious at all. It was still scary as hell though. Needless to say the copperhead died!
A week before that happened I was climbing the bank and I found myself about 3 feet from a cotton mouth that was extremely pissed in the coiled strike position and ready to do buisness. My luck with snakes this year has been horrible.
I took a pic of the copperhead and I also have a pic of a black widow I killed last year.

LOL! Where I live there is only 1 type of spider said to be here, i dont kow what type it is, but it has a yellow abdomen and is not poisiounous(sp?), but I have seen a ton of wolf spiders, and about 10 others that I do not know what they are, one of them is all yellow, kind of clear, and it is almost always on flowers, also the only snakes we have are brown tree snakes, mildly venemous, in order to penetrate your clothing or skin they have to dig there teeth into you, moving there head back and forth, side to side, they can grow up to be a little over 9 feet, the average is 4 to 5 feet, the largest I caught was 8 feet at my school ( actually it was easy, he did not move much, looked like he was about to die, but when I caught him and everyone came out he started moving), I will u/l a pic from my yearbook, but for the past couple of weeks, every night there would be a snake on my fence waiting for me to feed my dogs ( they love dogfood for some reason) never got bit by a snake, but alot of times it was damn close, I usually dont pay attention to things, and end up walking right into them
