www.freecycle.org

The site above is a network of (local-to-you) tree-hugging hippies that sit around posting emails about the junk they no longer want but would rather not see end up in a landfill...

If you are such a hippie, it's a great way to get rid of pretty much anything you no longer want without having to throw it away. frx - I've recently given away a non-working 40+ cu.ft. deep freezer that was just taking up space because I didn't want to pay a special $50.00 "large item" pickup fee just to have it hauled away... probably to a landfill.

Now, the other side of this deal is that, once you're a member of your local freecycle mailing list, you can also "TAKE" things that have been offered. I've seen pressure cookers, dehydrators, all manner of gardening and farming supplies, televisions, old computers, all kinds of great stuff offered that would have otherwise been thrown out.

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.

Freecycle rules, good idea to post that up, most people have never heard of it.

but they need to make it like craigslist a little more in terms of interface, I think. Last I knew it was a yahoo group, or least my area was.
