cobweb or not?
    #7680583 - 11/26/07 04:36 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Hey, I birthed these cakes 4 days ago, dunked, and thought it would roll well but only learned later that the coarse verm wouldn't stick. I didn't dab the cakes with dry paper towel. I'm worried that the water left on the cakes caused cobweb contam...

Is this cobweb or could it be mycellial growth trying to catch the verm?
if it's cobweb can I fight it (say with peroxide)? should I fight it? can I be too late? can my mycellium be dead already?

Cobweb looks like hair and its much more gray then cube mycelium.

Cobweb is caused by stale air sorry if this didn't help, but its hard with out pictures.

That is not cobweb. Cakes fluff up like that before they pin.

In case I do run into cobweb sometime during my (first) grow experiecne... How do we fight it?
I read some posts about misting the cakes with peroxide-water solution but no technical instructions there. How much should I spray? what should be the concentration of peroxide in the water solution? how many times should the cake be sprayed upon?
Are there other ways to fight the dreaded cobweb? (I'm a bit scared of wetting them cakes since, as you can see from the pictures the verm did not stick to them and don't cover the myc.

cheers

I have always thrown away anything with cobweb.

Stale air causes cobweb not excess moisture keep your humidity up.

I believe you are supposed to spray with 3% peroxide to combat cobweb.
