Life-Changing Decision

Hey guys, I’m in a potentially life-changing situation right now. Not in a life or death or a physically harmful sort of way. Basically for the past year I have been going to a community college and taking classes full-time, I’m currently extremely unhappy about that ‘cause not only do I take classes full time but I work at a retail store that I fucking hate(I’m not doing too well at my classes either). At the same time I don’t want to let down my family ‘cause I want to make them proud and make something of myself. I should also mention that my parents could drug test me at any moment even though they haven’t because I got my shit together somewhat(I only do psychedelics every now and then even though I loved weed and wish to pursue it once again). Basically in my eyes I have two main choices. I know the choice probably sounds obvious to onlookers but I could always use a fresh pair of eyes as my neurons might be misfiring.
1) Stay the course and feel empty throughout my school career.(I would transfer to a four-year eventually)
2) Quit school for a while, work full time, move out, maybe take 1 or 2 classes, still go to school but at a slower pace, do whatever the fuck I want, and most importantly enjoy life!
3) Other (Describe please)
This choice has clouded my mind for some time now, I must make this decision now for the next semester starts in about a month or so. I would appreciate feedback

You would probably be more happy in the long time staying the course as long as you can. The way you have it now doing psychedelics only is probably the best way to enjoy drugs anyways.

You have a point, but I don't feel like I'm loving life like I should be when I slave away at school. But you may be right, fuck I'm confused

you should do what makes you happy.
however, getting through college will definitally make things easier in the long run. are you willing to sacrifice a difficult now (like all college kids) for a (hopefully) easier future?
its hard. i know. i just started college, need a job, family blah blah.
whatever you choose, just remember to love life.. whether the times are hard or not!
and best of luck to you.

I wouldnt quit school. Thats probably not a good idea. But maybe going to school part-time would be cool. You can work and have fun for a while. It'll be nicer to slow down the pace, unless your in a hurry to grow up.

I feel like that a lot. I want to slow down and take some time off. Usually i'm just stressed about something. I figure i'll stick it out as long as I can and hopefully get out soon and then be able to travel and do whatever for a few years. Bottom line, you're not alone I know a lot of people who feel like that. Do what you ultimately think is right for you

when you stop school you probably won't go back (even if the plan is to quit for a while)...
Don't you like studying in general, or aren't you interested in the subjects they teach? If so try to find some other classes that are more interesting for you, that could be an upper for your motivation And why aren't you doing too well, don't you do much or is it too difficult?
Also if it's just a short time you still have to go before graduating just go for it. That little piece of paper might become handy some day;)
also -find another job in tsead of the retail store, there are probably better tyhings out there -find out what exactly makes you unhappy about the situation, that will help decision making

Hey guys, Thanks for all the replies. I'm leaning towards part-time classes and moving out. I'm pretty much the worse decision maker though when it comes to these kinds of things so that's why I appreciated your comments. Peace

I enjoy the stuff that I enjoy, but the problem is I haven't really figured it out yet. The reason I'm not doing as good as I can is I feel overwhelmed so I'm kinda crawling in a hole metaphorically I guess. Man life is fucking weird sometimes.

Decide what you want for your life in the future.
You know, that age-old question... what do you want to be when you grow up?
Make some goals. and then figure out what you will need to do to achieve those goals, and do it.
If you want more than anything to be a *marine biologist (or whatever) and the only way to accomplish it is through school then you will motivate yourself to complete it. If you want to be a *musician (or other job that requires something other than a 4 year degree) then find out how to do it and then do it.
If you are going to college to appease anyone other than yourself, such as your parents, then you will hate the entire experience, not get anything out of it, and waste alot of your time and money.
best of luck deciding your future, just keep in mind, it's YOUR future, so make sure you are taking it in the direction you REALLY want to go.

Yea man I totally agree, my next step I guess is figuring out what the fuck I want to do with my life. BTW this semester I'm signed up for a career development class to hopefully point me in the right direction

this could be a good idea. keep up the classes, but not full-time. Maybe you're doing too much for your own good. Also keep in mind that moving out could lead to more pot smoking and doing less well in school (frequent pot smoking often makes you less motivated to take real effort in anything).

lawl.
how about other than sleep/smoke pot/ watch tv/ video games
those are all out of the question. find something that inspires you, makes you WANT to go to work every day. something that doesnt feel like work.
think about it for a while, you don't have to come up with the answer right away... do you have any hobbies?

I am a college drop out. Here's a question, do you feel like working for wal-mart or working construction would be great?
If so, quit now. The highlight of my post college days was working at the post office, woohoo.
The choice is yours, all I can say is it definately wasn't a good choice for me.

I enjoy psychedelics and their life-changing properties. I should grow up to be like Alex Shulgin lol that'd be badass. Maybe a chemist of some sort? What do y'all think?

i wouldn't completely quit school next semester, but perhaps cut back on the class load? like, take half the amount of classes you're taking now. might make things somewhat easier on you. take some classes that you think you will enjoy, maybe throw in some sort of artistic type class for fun?
but don't quit school completely, you'll probably regret doing it later because it's hard to get back into once you take a "break" so to speak. breaks from school usually turn into very long vacations from school and you might never have the motivation to go back once you stop.
