First cultivation process

I have eight jars hopefully cultivating Golden Teacher. I have the jars in a terrarium with a submergible fish tank heater. The temperature is at 80 degrees F for the spores. I started them in the terrarium on Thanksgiving and I'm looking forward for colonization!

80's starting to get a bit low IMOA, 82-84 works best for me. That being said some people grow @ room temp. Good Luck!

84 used to be the accepted standard for heat but for some reason people found that around 80 was better and now swear by it, its because inside the jars its about 2 degrees warmer

do you have to have your jars in an incubator for them to reach full colonization or can i just store them in a closet

I just put mine in the closet, at room temp which was about 75. They took 3 weeks to fully colonize.

Incubation is not nessary, i find that 80F is a safe temperature to aim for if u really want to speed things up, which still gives u a few degrees room for error for any spikes in temp that may happen.
Myc growth slows down at temperatures of about 83 degrees and above, where as certain contams like higher temps.
Room temperature is fine, some will experience slightly slower colinisation but it is possible to still have a half pint in 2 weeks...

Yeah I actually found out the bottom of the jars are getting 80 degrees F and the tops are getting between 76-78 degrees F. I think I'm starting to see some myc growth but not sure. Tomorrow or the next day should tell.
