Absolutely no colonization after a week.

I'm not sure what's going on. I know it takes a while to show signs of growth sometimes, but none of the jars are showing anything at all. I inoculated 10 jars with Golden Teacher 10 days ago.
I used the same procedure I used the last time, my first grow, and had around 20 cakes all do very well. Those jars showed signs of colonization within 5-7 days.
Any idea what the problem could be? I'm incubating around 86, the same way I did the last time.

Wait a few more days, only time will tell. However it is possible you got a crappy syringe(if everything was done exactly the same),also did you let the substrate cool enough b/f inoculation?Guess you'll find out in a couple days, but 12 days or so seems like a long time to me too!! Good luck.

Your incubation temps are a bit too warm. Bring them down to around 80 if possible.

Could your temps be creeping up on you? Maybe you should lower your temps a bit.

I'll lower my temps, but last time I had jars colonizing at around 90 (too hot, I know).
I let the jars cool for over 24 hours before inoculating.
Got them from Hawks Eye.

I got 2 syringes from Spores 101 that looked clear, even close up but I remembered what I read on here and inoculated 8 half pint jars with A strain and the other 4 with Cambodian. It's day 14 now and they are 85% colonized. I lost one of the Cambodian to green mold. I had also ordered syringes from The Hawk's Eye and recently used Hawaiian to inoculate 16 quarter pint jars on Nov 17 and I'm seeing around 10% growth on those as well. T.H.E. syringes were dark vs Spores 101 clear but they both seem to work.

I personally doubt a 0.5ml solution is enough to throw water ratio out of whack but then again, I'm new to this..

Can't argue with that logic since spores aren't really microscopic.

It is a little warm but let me guess. Your first grow was not golden teachers? Myabe eq's or b+? Gt's tend to germinate late, up to three weeks. as long as you do not see some slime or mold growing in there then you wait.
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

my first syringes i couldn't see anything in them at all. yet they germinated in 3 days and colonized very fast!
my recent syringes had visible spores, yet took 2 weeks to barely germinate, i think they were very poor =(
i doubt its the strain, all my GTs took 3 days so far. its probly just a shitty syringe=/
