Some of my art...
    #7677783 - 11/25/07 12:48 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Here's a very small amount of the art I've done over the years. Most of this art is fairly dated. I got a lot of more recent stuff that isn't quite finished. Most of which were started while under the influence of lsd. I found that while my lsd drawings took on very strange dimensions, I would have a hard time finishing them (I'd sit there and just stare at them). These days I try to use the odd creativity gained through psilocybin, lsd, and create in a more sober state. However, I almost always smoke weed before I draw. It helps to channel my energies toward the drawing, and opens up creative doors. These older drawings were generally created while stoned, as I wasn't using lsd or psilocybin very often. The crazy ass turkey was created on thanksgiving day last year. I tripped the night before. Also, the butterfly was created post-trip (next day).

We'll start with oldest and move forward:
John Coltraine (chalk pastel, I was around 15 yrs old):

Eye on the World (charcoal, age 16):

Math Flower 1 (pencil, age 17):

Math Flower 2 (pencil, age 17):

Escher Island (pencil, age 17):

Where I Live (black sharpie, age 19):

Trey (pencil, age 19):

This is what your turkey looked like, right? (black sharpie, age 20):

My dog (chalk pastel, age 21): glare from glass

Quantum Butterfly (prismacolor markers, age 22): shitty color becuase of glare from glass

I'll throw more recent ones on as I finish them.

Hey landsnorkler, just wanna say great work. You have your own style but are able to create several types of art, which imho is an admirable talent. I've been getting back into doing art recently, i'm not particularly good but i enjoy making and learning about art.

Could you provide details on what you used for each piece, eg pencil, charcoal, ink etc.

That is pretty much the story of all the drawings I start....!
I will be damned if I ever finish one, it's like after I plan the whole thing out in my head, it becomes "work" to finish it....  :smirk:

Anyways, good on you, I really dig the math flowers, and the Escher island....

landsnorkler, great stuff. you have skill. with some focus/intense practice and some wise guidance, you could really do some great stuff.

are you going to school for art or anything? what are some of your main artistic influences?

LOL, I think it's just the reflection of HIM that you are seeing. I have a feeling the dog picture is behind a glass frame?

Thanks syle. The past few years I have been persuing graphic design. It doesn't quite fulfill my desires, however I figured it would lead to a better job than just a studio art major. I'm thinkin about switching to plant pathology, or microbiology though. I love to draw as a hobby, and I want to keep it that way. I feel like I can persue art on my own. My influences include: mathematical beauty, nature, psychedelics, sponteneity, and music.

hey, after reading your influences, I was more so wondering what particular artists you like? within the art world, it's very important to know what your influences are, where you draw inspiration from, and who out there is doing what kinds of particular work. it may not seem like it matters, but it really does. if you like visionary artists (like alex grey, or chet zsar, or mike hussar) you should check out this site, it's pretty damn cool:
