Mycelium/Filter Problem

Ok, so I am waiting for my mycelium to flly colonize my BRF cakes. They appear to be finished...but some spots of verm are still uncolonized. The mycelium seemed to ignore spreading around some spots at the top of the jar. I think some of the dry verm from the filter tumbled to the sides. Im not sure how to identify what the problem is without leaving my cakes open to contams. Basically, the mycelium has spread all around the jars and colonized 95% of it. But, certain spots around the top are still not colonized a week later from when i last checked. I pulled the foil up and saw that there are some spots not colonized. Im thinking this is apart of the filter or that some dry verm spilled on the sides. The temp is the same 75f to 78F. Will i still get pins even though some spots are not colonizing at the top of the jar? Anything i can do to correct the problem? Its been about 3 and a 1/2 weeks into colonization. Should i give it a few more days?

First off if you still have the foil on .... TAKE IT OFF. The purpose of the foil is to prevent water/moisture from going in/out while sterilization, but once the jars have been inoculated you need to take the foil off. The dry verm is your filter, so you don't even need to cover the holes with micro-pore tape or anything.
Secondly, I think you should be able to tell the difference between dry verm, and verm with BRF on it.
Maybe if you could post a pic it would help, could be something else is off.
So take the foil off if you still have it on, and give it some more time.
If after that there is still uncolonized areas I believe you can remove those areas, or crumble and case, I am not 100% on that since i never had to do it.... so maybe some else could guide you on that.

Yeah you can do that, sounds like everything is fine. Flip those jars to get that last bit of colonization if thats what your looking for.
