great tek by the way, ima follow this if i dont get a PC in time of m guys poppin up!!
so you really dont need a pc? im skepitcal on that one
so when you guys clone, is it better to use a LC or AGAR?
also, when you clone a REALLY big huge monster mushroom, will the LC you make from it, produce just as big mushrooms? if not
what is the purpose of cloning. help me understand guys.
ive learned everything else time to learn this!!!
(and yes ive been searching all night, i love lurking and searching and reading)

you don't need a pc to make a LC or to grow using the PF tek. The tek you posted is easy and has worked more often than not for me so far.it's less hassle than Agar but a lot more "hit and miss". just pick a fruit you like the qualities of, size and "speed to fruit" being important parameters imo. the purpose is to single out a strain with the qualities you like from the rag-bag of strains you will get from a multispore inoculation.

Ive done a clone tek with one of my desired mushrooms, I'm just five days into incubation, this the first time Ive done lc and cloning , but Ive read that the mushrooms may not be identical but you are singling out good property's, i wonder if i get better mushrooms i can then clone it and be making even better property's in the strain ? which is then like generations rather than the random spores which hold no characteristics, interesting ill look into this a bit more

you may be referring to the notion that a single mushroom can contain the genetics of more than one strain. if it turns out to be the case, in the clone you have taken, you will likely get more than one variety pop up in a flush. if so, i don't see the harm in cloning the one that most resembles the properties of the shroom you originally wanted to clone. there's some pics in my gallery of what happens if you don't put some "shrapnel" (something to help "tear" the myc up) into the lc jar. hope yours work out. good luck

... you don't have a pressure cooker?
why do people start this hobby without good equipment, i cannot understand.
clones are best done on agar and petri, not LC's.
the chance of a clone taking to LC is slim. It can happen. but slim.

al i done was stabbed my desired mushroom with a syringe half full of water and squirted the tissue peice into a honey lc and its done graet ive made a working culture from the original and the jars are colonising great, i upped the amount of brf as an experiment to get a better yeild knowing the lc will colonise that bit quicker so ill see how it goes

i do. i was answering a question of someone who doesn't.
>why do people start this hobby without good equipment, i cannot understand.
maybe they don't want to fork out too much on a hobby until they are sure it is something they will enjoy.
>clones are best done on agar and petri, not LC's.
think i indicated as much "it's less hassle than Agar but a lot more "hit and miss"."
>the chance of a clone taking to LC is slim. It can happen. but slim.
..."is easy and has worked more often than not for me so far"

LC cloning does work alright, but more often than not, you end up with a very weak growing mycelium
i know how hard it can be for the every day grower to get and use agar but this is how i've managed to clone many times, very successfully http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute

I feel so lucky. Where I live you can obtain EVERYTHING needed for this hobby including PC spores and agar on the same walk.
