How do you prepare your setting?

HOPEFULLY, I'll be getting a half ounce of mushrooms tomorrow. It's been a good 8 months. *fingers crossed*
Anyways, how do you prepare your room or wherever you are going to trip before hand? Last time for me, dim lighting + candles and a couple play things and some chill music turned out very well. It's getting insanely cold outside lately, so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay out in nature.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

I will be cleaning my trip area extensively, so I cannot feel bad about a dirty room!
A predetermined song list for the different phases of the trip. Onset: upbeat Peak: ambient, non-intrusive Come down: Beautiful music, The Beatles!
Trip toys that were chosen for the type of person. I love nature, and art, so I will be doodling with colors on paper, and looking at nature photography. I also heard that blowing bubbles are great.
Lastly, going outside for a walk, and connecting to nature will be my climax to my first trip. Whenever I go for a hike, I can already feel a deep connection towards nature, and I'm sober during the time. I can't imagine how amazing my connection to everything will be on my first time.

i clean my basement really well. its a finished basement with a bar and rec room and pictures hanging and its usually clean, but i have to make sure everything is clean. then i hook up all the electronics that i may need incase i cant function later. then i place some chairs that are a bean bag type chair and a bowl chair and a blow up mattress. then i make a playlist to lsiten to. i usually spend a while doing it, and no matter what, i always end up on my bathroom floor naked staring at the tiles and the ceiling and Im not sure why either lol.

Hahaha. good stuff, I can relate
I also usually clean my room on the come up, then the first wave of insanity hits me and I have to lay down which results in me laying in my bed for about an hour trying to cope. Then once I get a grip on it, I usually trip well from there. to this day I still cannot understand how people can dose mushrooms for a party setting. I guess different strokes for different folks right? But damn...

this is funny cuz i just had this discussion after my last trip. my friends and i talked the whole week last week about what we were going to do. what would we listen to and such but when the time finally came none of us stuck to the plans at all. we all spread out in different rooms staring at diff stuff ceilings floors and walls mostly lol and by the end we all migrated into one room to discuss what we'd seen and done. so we decided the best plan is not to have a plan but to decide spur of the moment and go with it. (although a good play list is always a good idea ahead of time in case you're incapable of operating a computer or cd player)

I think of setting in a very strange manner ...I don't care who I'm with, where I am, or what I am doing at the time, as long as I have time, when I trip.
A tree is as an equal "distraction" as another human being. Since my work with psychonautics doesn't usually involve trees as a constant way of "divining" or "extracting" (Divine Synthesis?;-) I find myself around people more often than not, and usually alone for the second half of the peak and come down.
To me, the Setting is the drug itself. It is the place where it takes your experience. No matter how well you prepared your "setting", crazy shit can and will happen. Last trip I went on, a reality shattering 4 hits of LSD, I watched a house burn to the ground next door, and the street flood with Firetrucks, police, and all out reverse-block party insanity. Most people would not want to watch disaster that close at home, however, I was thoroughly enjoying it.
There's nothing funny and consenting at all about enjoying the "shattering of lives", if you want to call it that: I was enjoying the unpredictability and absurdity of life; The shit you can't write. And that is one reason why I generally don't like to prepare my setting. It is plot VS. Story, really, and I'm more of a story fellow. Good stories write themselves. Plots are more like actual work, that may or may not be fruitful.
To paraphrase Stephen King "Plot is a shifty character; you always have to watch your back, but story is a fluid friend that moves along with you" I prefer my trips to be stories: Sometimes Seinfeldian, Amazing, Esoteric, Dungeons and Fucking Dragons of Real Life!, spiritual...you can name it, really;-) However, all of them have been fluid, and containing an element of extreme precision that one may later use to see how it all connects. Each part contains the whole story, really.
