You gotta be really good at chemistry though. Like seriously don't pretend you can do it and then fail miserably.
do you need a uni degree?

are you sure there's many jobs like that? My understanding of most research is the chemists make it, and the doctors derive the studies, whilst the nurses administer it. I'm not aware of a big role for pharmacists, and you'd surely have to compete w/ the Doc's and PhD's in more classical sciences.
Not saying it doesn't exist, I know I've read about them, I just don't know how large a market there is, but I could be wrong.

Just make sure you really get into your chemistry at the SC and HSC level. Like really know it and ace it 'cause it's hard and uni will be harder.
Thought of Psych? I thought Psych would be shit coming out of school but it's incredibly interesting if you're into studying consciousness for instance. Plus there's no tricky technical knowledge (Just get into Arts at uni and do Psych subjects to qualify to become certified). Plus you can be the next Strassman if you want or specialise in drugs or addiction or whatnot. It's real broad.

Psychology. A la research into consciousness, getting paid for telling housewives how they feel, dispensing Xannies to all your buddies or researching the effects of Psilocybin on receptors in the brain and how these affect our sense of reality. Whatever, its a broad career.

Good $$$ I hope you're a smart dude though I'm having a tough time with chemistry right now, and it's just general chem. It's not the material as much as my poor study skills. So you'd better be real motivated to study and go to class.

I touched on this topic in a different thread.
If you want to be a "pharmacist" you will need a "Pharm D" degree, which is typically a 6 year program. This will give you the credentials to be a "pharmacist" and dispense medications. The one downfall cited by a lot of pharmacists is the customer service aspect. Think of how many times you've been at a pharmacy and someone is pissed at the pharmacist because they don't understand their own insurance and don't realize what they are being charged for. It is not the pharmacists job to understand health insurance (although for some reaosn people will expect you to). It also noteworthy that the job of a pharmacist can be very robotic: They simply follow the orders of a physician.
A Pharm D is very different than a "Pharmacologist", who has Ph.D. in Pharmacology. Usually a pharmacologist does research as a college professor or at an industrial pharmaceutical company.
A pharmacologist is trained to do research and usually has MUCH less clinical knowledge. Once you tell people you study pharmacology they will ask you: "Oh really?, well I'm taking this drug and..." to which you'll give them a blank stare. A pharmacologist usually has ONE very focused area that they are knowledgeable in.
If you suck at chemistry, go for pharmacology (NOT Pharm D). You can get a way with practically zero understanding of chemistry.
EDIT: Sorry, thats the take on the careers in the states. If you want to do research, it'll be the same worldwide.

I've been planning to be a pharmacist for awhile, but I'm going to work in a pharmacy and steal pills. It's so easy and they get paid pretty damn good. Should my major be chemistry? that sucks but I think I can do it. High school chemistry was very hard at my school and I came to class blazed everyday, never did any homework assignments and somehow did better than almost everybody else. Wouldn't it make more sense if you were a pharmacologist that you are good with chemistry? I was under the impression that being a pharmacist is more about understanding all of the drug interactions and their effects, and less chemistry.
