Yet Another Corrupt Televangelist Family [or, Mrs. Roberts Loves Oral]

Yes Dear Friends, the love of money is truly the root of all evils. Consider the Oral Roberts ministry. Now, I have never heard of another human being named 'Oral,' but it sounds immediately suspicious to even a moderately dirty-minded individual such as myself. The well known ministerial context adequately cloaks the otherwise sleazy sexual association, but who knew that Mrs. Oral Roberts would have such a penchant for underage boys?
Yes, Dear Mods out there in (#1's spherical Shroomery surveillance seat), there is a spiritual speculation subsequent to such spurious suppositions. There were the Bakers, Swaggert, Falwell and unless I'm missing more, now the Roberts who command enormous followers in their ministries who have yielded to the corruption that power always brings. Money is "green energy" (Ram Dass) and is equivalent to power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and so what is supposed to be examples of Absolute morality (morality which flows from the Absolute's Grace upon human beinghood) once again turns out to be absolute bulls**t because it is in reality based upon showmanship and very average human development with religious trappings to deceive the unwary.
The repression of the [Jungian] Shadow is the culprit of course. Call it the Devil if you wish, it amounts to the same thing phenomenologically, and the Shadow has always exploded out of its imprisonment in the repressed psyche to perpetrate the most heinous of acts. The more one-sided the conscious personality, the more one-sided one's unconscious becomes with forbidden impulses. To the extent it is believed that "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all," (1 John 1:5), and further, to the extent that one erroneously attempts to create a conscious personality that reflects this mere conception of Deity, one creates a very dangerous condition in one's personal unconscious. Everything that is found unacceptable in one's conscious attitude gets repressed into the personal unconscious either to sneak out sleazily or to project onto to others who are then persecuted for one's own hated attributes! Now add fame and fortune and the approval of huge portions of society, and that inflated ego has a Shadow of size and depravity inversely proportional to it! The bigger you are, the harder you fall.
I went through a reputable United Methodist seminary but came out knowing full well that any spiritual virtue that I had was only going to be communicated in humility. And as hungry and horney as I was at age 23 when I entered that school, getting hit on thrice by the very hot wife of a professor there (and declining), I knew that all those seeds of lust (and who knew what else?) were just under the surface - not even repressed into unconsciousness. I knew even then that I was not in any position to preach to others against those things that I was well aware still lived in me. Maybe I was just a tad more honest than the young obnoxious ministers who actually stood up in class and thundered: "BUT I SAY UNTO YOU!...[Blah, blah, blah...] I was too surprised to even burst out laughing back then. Now, I'd probably piss myself laughing.
Gandhi, Thomas Merton, the Dalai Lama, Neem Karolie Baba, Mother Teresa, and other authentically spiritual individuals in our time have never built empires because God commanded them to do it. Neither have any of these people preached a gospel of 'life abundant' like the newer up-and-coming televangelists: God WANTS me to be rich is the message. Elsewhere in the P&S people question what the difference is, assuming ultimate non-duality, between simple enjoyment of the world by our senses and the enjoyment of joy - the impingement of Being on our mind. It is simply the difference between materiality and spirituality and the latter makes for human authenticity, the former for a life based on 'cheap' thrills no matter how one wants to cut it and with however much thanksgiving to the Divine Giver of all givens. Cheap thrills are expensive, but most people have no real idea of just how pricey they are. In the words of Iesus: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" - Mark 8:36
After all was said and done, I found these words stuck to my ribs a long time - all the way to this typing of them:
Walk in the Sunshine As performed by the Grateful Dead
Look out cause here comes some free advice.
Walk in the sunshine, watch for the bright sun, Be all those things you're able to be.
You got to listen to the heavens, you got to try to understand, The grateness of their movement is just as small as it is grand.
Try not to hurry, it's just not your worry. Leave it to those all caught up in time.
You got to deep-six your wristwatch, you got to try and understand, The time it seems to capture is just the movement of its hands.
I ain't preachin', 'cause I don't know How to make fast things move along slow I can't stop it, can't make it go.
Just 'cause I say it, that don't mean that it's so, no, no, Watch what you hear now, make sure it's clear now, Just 'cause it's said that don't mean that it's true. So all we say:
You got to make a revolution, you got to help me with my cause. You got to burn down all the buildings, you got to throw out all the laws.
I ain't burning, Lord, I'm still only learning How to become a man of my own.
Just want to find out what's right and what's wrong.
I ain't crazy, all the world keeps on turning, I'm still trying to find out what's right and what's wrong.
I ain't crazy!
Peace Out.

Listen Buster, you are intruding in my turf. I am the one who rants about the fallen Christians and other public hypocrites. I leave you to the dispensing of historical religious knowledge as that is your 'field'
Must I tag my territory?

Bump. This is one of my favorites from Frank. He has some others about those godly guys too. The music that goes with the song is high energy and awesome.

The majority of your postings are investments in personality rather than ideas, so, apparently, you must.
