If it is Gym it probably won't kill me to taste it, however, simply putting or tasting any mshrm inside the oral mucosa high absorption, therefore risk, you don't have to swallow.;) The spore print might not be true color because of the water it was retaining with it. So don't know for sure.
The question of whether tasting a mushroom and then spitting it out is dangerous has been discussed on these boards. The majority believe it is not dangerous. Many people, including some on this board, have tasted deadly species like Amanita phalloides, the death cap, with no ill effect.
Generally, taste is not a good identifier. However, it's an excellent identifier in some genera, like Gymnopilus.
Regarding 'true color', I meant does the photograph represent the true color of the actual print?

reading this thread makes me nervous. it seems pretty doubtful. They were frozen, and doesnt that mean that if they were gyms that they would be bruised and green all over from the ice tearing the cells?

Why nervous? He has been told not to eat the mushroom and he doesn't seem inclined to ignore that advice.
Most Gyms do not bruise blue/green at all.

I guess I did not realize that was said. I humbly ask you to pardon my interjection.
