NO for the love of god DO NOT simply delete your partitions.
i did that once....linux plants itself into every nook and cranny of you disk. if you were to simply delete the partition, you would have half-files everywhere. i think it has something to do with gnome.
in any case, my computer wouldnt even let me into my BIOS, it was so screwed up. i had to run ubuntu from the boot disk and reinstall it.
research the hell out of it first, trust me.

just have the xp install disk replace the mbr, then delete the linux partition.
i would keep that partition, though. give you a place to play with other linux distros.

uh...
so you partitioned a seperate hard drive and put ubuntu on that partition?
is there anything else on the hard drive? might as well format the whole thing.

Not certain what you were using for a bootloader, but if you have problems after removing unix, you might need to do a "fixmbr" from the recovery console in winblows in order to get it to boot.

> why is ntfs so bad?
Because it is a Microsoft product. On the technical side, my biggest dislike of it is the non-stateless-locking locking which means file corruption should a link between client/server be lost unexpectedly. Even have a file open (read only) and the machine crashes only to have the file gone when you reboot? Lame design that is a kickback to early days of Microsoft when they wrote single user non-networked operating systems (DOS, Win95, etc).
