Damn if only! But who has that much money to spend on that?
I'm waiting for someone to come out with a Virtual Reality version - like maybe a headset. That and some shrooms would rock!

I'm about to have another try installing XP back on my laptop. I don't "hate" vista, but it doesn't feel like the machine it should be

So it's taken me about a week and a half... 4 or 5 complete reinstalls.. a bunch of blue screens of death..and about 100 drivers later.. and I finally have XP running, updated, and all tweaked out. I have to say... the performance I'm getting out of XP compared to Vista is about three times better, literally.
Vista can go suck it. Maybe in 2 years when they have it running somewhat decently I'll think about switching, but for me now XP is the shit.
PS - Finding XP drivers for my new toshiba was three and a half pains in the asses

Do you have an SLI motherboard? My motherboard is for Crossfire, but I'm not a big fan of ATI.

On the plus side, you learned a lot about your system from the experience. When XP breaks (which is always does), you will be much better positioned to figure out what is wrong and fix it.

Yep... and Linux is faster yet, though there is less software available. Vista has to check your hardware some 30+ times a second to ensure that you aren't doing anything bad, as defined by the recording industry.

Yea the new Ubuntu version is honestly kind of buggy. Ive been less then impressed by it. Im thinking of installing a different distro and waiting until the ubuntu 8 comes out in a year or so. So we are in the same boat, and this is what Im thinking
Suse sounds reasonable as it uses the fedora .rpm package system which is nice, also its KDE looks really good especially with version 4
Gentoo, I was thinking it might be time to finally try out Gentoo as I think I have enough linux experience to deal with it, but Im not sure if I want to bother
Besides those two I was considering Fedora, which Ive used plenty, seemed like a reasonable distribution. I guess those are really the only 3 that Ive been considering.
By the way has anyone here tried out the Window manager Enlightenment? Im running it on my ubuntu at the moment, its quite strange and a bit hard to use at first. Im not sure I dig it, but its certainly a difference from Gnome and KDE. I run the latest e17-cvs files so it can be a bit buggy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlightenment_%28window_manager%29

yeah, i installed ubuntu gutsy, after having fesity for a couple of months, and it wasn't what i expected. configuring it wasn't as smooth as it had been with feisty. so i installed, kubuntu gutsy and it went smooth.
but i'm new to the linux world so i need stuff for newbies.

Of course, I wouldn't be able to get another vid card if it wasn't.

I just upgraded from Ubuntu's Gutsy to Hardy and decided to try out KDE recently. So far KDE seems to be more elegant and advanced than Gnome, but it's taking some time to get use to it.
Fortunately, we're allowed to use either-or within the Unix environment - and switch anytime we want! Without losing access to either our preferred programs or our documents. That's the beauty of Unix/Linux IMO.

I'm also using kde, ive used gnome, xfce, and kde, out of them, I like kde for most applications, and xfce for my old laptop, but it doesn't work anymore...ive also tried fluxbox and thought it was pretty cool, if your a minimal type person, its great...its also funny to see people come up to your comp and have no idea how to use it, since it is just a blank screen...lol
