Multiple Flushes - How to? 1

I did a search for multiple flushes in the message board and I found a lot of people discussing subsequent flushes. Are there any how-tos that people can point me to?
After the first flush substrate shrinks a lot. How should it be hydrated?
After hydrating, should the casing be patched with a fresher casing layer? Then should it be covered and allow for the substrate to colonize the casing before reintroducing it back to the fruiting enviroment?
I'm full of questions as I'm sure all new growers are. I'll appreciate any and all information.
Also, from two trays - approximately one brick of coir with 3 quart jars of WBS, the first flush was nearly 2oz dry. I have something to be thankful for this Saturday.

After harvest, it's a good idea to fill any divots created by picking with fresh casing material. Don't wait for it to colonize, because it rarely will. Don't re-case. Trays can be soaked for a few hours under running water. Just let the faucet fill up the tray and gently run over the sides and down the drain. Use jars of water or rocks to hold the substrate from floating. After four or five hours, most substrates will be re-hydrated.
I like to wait up to a week after picking a flush before doing the above. During this rest time, allow the substrate to dry out a bit, and then soak as above and return to fruiting conditions. RR

RR, during the week of recovery/recovery time you mentioned in your post above, what conditions (temp/humidity/light etc) work best? Is it ok to maintain fruiting conditions during this time?

In the recovery time, it would make sense to drop your RH to allow the substrate to dry out for a few days. I could be wrong, but im sure i read somewhere that in the recovery period it is benificial to allow the substrate to dry out a litte before reydrating ( i have not yet personally tried this myself)
