It is an Agaricus species.
Not sure if it is an edible or poisonous species... Seeing as the stipe is red (but could have faded red, from yellow, if the bruising is old) but where it is cut, it is yellow.
Would you describe the smell as sweet/almond, chemical like, or just plain mushroomy?

Well, it is best to try bruising them right after you pick them. Scrape the bottom of the stem as well as the cap with your nail and see what colour it changes. Works best with young mushrooms. I have a feeling it will be light yellow, fading to orange/red, which is indicative of some poisonous species. The chlorine smell also suggests a poisonous Agaricus, don't eat it.

Chemical smells usually mean death or worse. Don't eat unless you want to go to the E.R. or the morgue.

I'm not aware of any deadly poisonous Agaricus. Please do not make such outstanding claims without being sufficiently informed.

I wasn't talking about Agaricus specifically, I was referring to the chemical smell itself. Most references warn against eating mushrooms that have any chemical smell at all because it usually means that it is poisonous, possibly deadly. Although it is not listed as "deadly" poisonous, Agaricus xanthoderma (which smells like phenol) does have type 8 toxins and (with the combination of diarrhea and vomiting)can be deadly for someone with heart problems, vomiting alone put a lot of strain on the heart.

I am not aware of any deadly mushrooms that have a chemical odor. I have tasted several deadly mushrooms and most taste mild and slightly mushroomy. Death caps smell a little bad, but not really a chemical type of odor.
Mushrooms that smell bad are likely to make you puke...

You can't qualify something as deadly simply because a weakened minority of the population would die from the added stress of an otherwise endured poisoning.
