Close call on Campus

So a friend of mine has been growing in mycobags in his dorm room and was on the shroomery on a school computer when a cop walks into the computer lab and starts checking peoples screens. He noticed but didn't freak out, closed his window and walked out of the lab. The cop exited in front of him stopped just out of the room, and my friend overheard him saying into his radio "Can I get an I.D on computer number?". My friend left the building and came back 10 minutes later to see if he was still there. He saw from the doorway that the cop and the system admin were on the computer he had so recently vacated. Now he was worried so he immediately left, sprinted back to the dorm and moved all his crop to a safe place. Nothing else happened, but it seems like this particular university monitors web traffic and doesn't take to kindly to students visiting the shroomery, though my friend had specifically mentioned growing in a dorm room on this forum.
What do you all think, would web traffic be enough to get an R.A or a cop into a students room?

Growing in a dorm room on campus sounds like a conviction and criminal record waiting to happen.
Why can't your friend just wait until college is done and he has his own place?
I don't understand why people take such stupid risks.

Ding! Agree with you 100% on this one.
Not certain what the laws are in your area, but at my school, they could come into the dorm rooms unannounced at any time for any reason.
Also, if you had stayed cool, closed the browser, and started working on homework, I doubt they would have looked at you twice. It certainly isn't illegal to be browsing this website from within the US. The cop saw you panic and they probably thought you were looking at child porn or something else that is illegal.
Guesses and assumptions on my part...

Most colleges make you sign wavers saying they can search your room anytime if your living on campus at least the did for me.
So it wouldn't be against the law at all for them to search

It still depends on how the school handles it as to whether or not it'd be admissable against you in court. But best not to get involved. At my school they can search the room but not open drawers or go in the closet- of course they do anyways.
But how hard is it to get a warrant from a judge in a colledge town where there is almost always signifigant tension between the residents and the college? Not too hard my friend.
But whatever, stupid idea don't do it a again. I know someone who was suspended for a semester and a half for one pill of vicodin. The cops came and he voluntered it, they pressed charges, started procedings against him. All in all about 15,000$, a year lost from school w/ a semseter lost in dorm rent for 5mg of hydrocodone. (But he is now rehabilitated thanks to the good folks in the justice system and the school, thank god

Depends on the dorms. If you go to a party school or a really lax university (like I did), all the dorm regulators usually knock on your door first and announce that they're entering, so any paraphernalia, alcohol, and drugs should be hidden out of sight (as they are not allowed to check personal drawers, bags, or closets). All my RA's were reaaaaaaaaally awesome about that shit.

Don't be so sure about that. I went to a party school who got tired of being known as a party school so they started cracking down pretty hard. It all stemmed form an incident that happened 3 years before I attended the college... One weekend 8 underage people ended up in the hospital and 2 people died from acute alcohol poisoning. Some of the people who were in the hospital were in comas and suffered brain damage. This was all a result of a Friday night and people rushing fraternities. One of the frats lost their charter at the school and a shit load of people got charged with providing alcohol to minors. That was the straw that broke the camels back and the school and town started cracking down hard core on underage drinking and drugs. By the time I attended if you got caught with a roach in a dorm room or one beer you were kicked out of the dorms permanently. People got busted all the time for drinking and smoking pot. On the first day 3 people in my building got kicked out and charged because they were smoking pot and the RA could smell it. The RA promptly called the police and got the master key to unlock the door. No knock, no "Police open the door." Just came right in and busted whoever they could for whatever they could. But the RA on that floor was a prick. I got high with my RA. He didn't care as long as people were discrete about it. Growing in dorm rooms is a bad idea and I would strongly discourage anyone from doing it. But if you are going to do it, filter patch bags are probably the best way to go. Every thing's pretty much self contained and easily disposable if you need to get rid of shit in a hurry.
