I saw Dane Cook live last night!

I am such a huge fan of stand-up comedy but I've never been to a show. I scored some tickets to his act last night in Philly. I had such a blast! I took the teacher's daughter (still just friends ) and our seats were like 20 ft from the stage. The whole time I was there though I kept wishing it was me up on the stage, I can't imagine how that would feel to have that many people laughing at my jokes. Maybe I should finally start putting together my act and get out there and do it.

Thats sweet you had a good time, live comedy is great.
That being said, i think dane cook is the biggest load of crap comedian out there. I really hate him, i think he's an arrogant fuck without the material to back up his ego. His shit is so weak, the only people who are convinced he's good are 16-20 year old chicks that wanna fuck his brains out.

Mitch Hedberg was probably my favorite comedian. His delivery was priceless, when he was sober enough to actually deliver. For me he's right up there with old eddie murphy stand up and steve martin, although very different style from either of them. Plus i loved the subject matter that mitch talked about. "I don't know much about cars..... I once rented a car and drove for ten miles with the emergency break on. That doesn't say much for me, but it sure as hell doesn't say much for the emergency break! It's like a make the car smell funny lever."

I don't see why people think this guy is funny. He just has ADHD, like many other people. He's not funny. Only comics I've seen are Mitch Hedburg ('03) and Dave Chappelle ('05) and they both had me in stitches. I wouldn't see Dane Cook for free, I really can't stand the guy. Sorry.

I love dane cook. If you just listen to him his jokes are lame, but its his whole delivery and attitude that make it funny.

shit id go see dane cook. he isnt THAT terrible and there would be plenty of pussy to drool over.
dane cook does mainly appeal to college sorority bitches and high schoolers, but i dont think he is that bad. ive definitely laughed at him in the past. i havent seen his new act, but im sure i will check it out with some weed sometime.
i feel like he is a popular figure to hate too...its easy to just point him out as a media whore. i dont really care though. if i were him id be loving every second of life.

dan cook is pretty awful... seinfeld is coming to my hometown but ticket prices will be through the roof. not worth it at all, i've seen enough of his stand up anyways to the point where its boring. the show never seems to get boring however.
i like the whole dane cook <--------------> hedberg spectrum
two complete opposite ends. hedberg is pure genius, dane cook is for dumbass 13 year olds

well, I agree and dsagree at the same time. Yes, his jokes are lame.
But screaming and shaking does not enhance your punchline or comedic timing/delivery.
Carlin screams, but hes a genius. Lewis Black screams, and hes evolving into a genius. Even Chris Rock screams, buts he's already funny as all get out.
Dane cook screams, and looks out into the audience like "Are they gonna laugh at this?!?
Its terrible* to watch, sorry brah.
or should I say br00tal.

Dane Cook has his moments though--you can't compare him to the greats, but he has some good material imo--and probably a massive ego and too much fame per unit of talent.
