Anyone care to post some links that they found useful in switching to a raw diet? This thread has really piqued my interest and it would be cool to read further from a knowledgeable source on the matter. Thanks much.

Here ya go:
I absolutely LOVE this site...check out the recipe section and the forums...awesome info and friendly group of people. Note, the sites I am posting are for raw vegans, although there are many different types of raw diets.
http://goneraw.com/
And then this site has some general information about being "purely raw vegan" and I truly enjoyed looking around.
http://www.purelyraw.com/index.htm
There are lots more sites online, but I like those two right now.
Good luck.
And yeah, I think beef jerky still classifies as "raw" because it is dehydrated, not cooked.

there is an asian market near my house that sells them by the pound, i cant remembe the price, but its pretty cheap compared to health food stores. theyre not organic or anything, but theyre still goji berries
Ohh yeah I suppose! I seem to automatically think organic when it comes to these obscure items. Either way I bought about a quarter pound from the local co-op at 11.99/lb. today to snack on. I added about 6 to a cup of green tea which added a very vague flavor that I couldn't quite identify, but I ate them after the cup and found they were slightly sweet & bitter - odd combination!
Moth - I looked at the first website you mentioned and it just made me want to go raw even more! I think I'll make a few smoothies and see what happens from there. I've read that to make proper smoothies you should use a really advanced blender like blend-tec, but they're ridiculously expensive, so do you think I'd be fine with a basic blender?
Have any of you who eat mostly raw find it to be an expensive diet? A coworker of mine said she was raw for a while; though she felt great it winded up costing too much to continue.

On the blender; many people use cheap blenders for RAW foods. I know I do. You gotta work with what you got.
As for price, do a search on goneraw for advice on how to eat RAW cheap and within a budget. There are some good suggestions on there. And also, organic raw foods might seem more expensive, but in my opinion it's so worth it. My health is worth it and I only want the highest quality products going into my body.

oh man, you stumbled onto one of my favorite tea additions! i found that a spoonfull of goji berries in a cup of either green or white tea is the shit!
i dont know how your co-worker found it was more expensive. it costs no more than normal. actually you save money on electricity or gas. if you can grow some of your food yourself youll save even more.
and IMO, no price is too much for better health. cut back on spending elsewhere if need be. your health is the most important thing in this life. without it life wont be as long.

Not to argue too much, but I would prefer a short beach vacation to a long stay in Gitmo. I guess it all depends on your perspective.

I don't know either...I was pretty skeptical that it would make much of a difference, which is why I asked.
The only reason I could think of was that when I look at raw food recipes they always seem to include really rare thus expensive items.
Oh and here's a pretty interesting website about raw paleo diets:
http://www.rawpaleodiet.org/
He also has a page dedicated to sun gazing, which is really interesting too.

thanx for the link. ive been trying to shape my diets more after the paleo diet. ive got a book, and two more im about to order from half.com.
i think what your co-worker might have meant was it was considerably more expensive switching to an all organic diet. if you buy nothing but organic from the grocery stores, then yes, its quite a bit more expensive. i buy as much as i can from local organic growers, and whatever else i need i just buy regular from the store.
i look at it this way. organic is better than regular produce and regular produce is better than the average american diet.
buy what you can. be as healthy as you can be on your budget. i cannot wait until me and my girlfriend get a house so i can start a decent garden up again. right now i can only grow so much out back of our apartment lol.
