Gotta say I did NOT see that one happening. I thought for sure it would be the White Sox, Dodgers or Rangers...I guess L.A. wants to distance itself from Gary Matthews and his bagHGHage as immediately as possible. Though I bet he'll see a good amount of time in right while Vlad DH's.

I thought the White Sox would pick him up. There's still Rowand I guess. It'd be cool to get him back.
I'm not sure about the Garland trade that we made. I like him. It will be weird going up against him.

Their getting rid of Matthews too? I thought they were just moving him to right field?

I've always liked the Angles and am glad to see them pick up Hunter. He needs that nice grass and California Sunshine to keep him going. He's a great pickup IMHO>

Oh no, 18 a year for him is crazy. But that's the market. At this rate, Rob Deer if he were still playing would get 8 or so for his 30 bombs (35 in todays parks) and .214 average. I remember when Jordan got 25.5 for 8 years and we were crapping our pants. I mean, this has got to stop at some point.
I think he's got a great vibe, goes all the way on every play, and seems to be a fun and intelligent cat. I'd take him in center at Wrigley. For 18 mil though?? Well, it's not my cash I guess.

Agreed...in a way you're paying him for his willingness to throw himself headlong into the outfield walls and into the grass and make amazing plays...which means you're paying him to be an injury liability, which to me would really knock that 18M a year down if I was the one offering..
