Drinking spoiled milk
    #7665962 - 11/22/07 07:38 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Ok. Here's the deal.

I went into the kitchen to clean up some stuff, and there I see some milk I hadn't drank yet, thought it was getting pretty close and I took a whiff of it.

It smelled like mozzarella cheese. I kid you none.

Poured it out into a wok and it looked fine. So I put it on low heat and brought it to an almost boil - but not a boil.

I went on to put it in some hot chocolate mix and honey. Didn't taste too bad, but I'm feeling awfully weird.

I feel like I'm high, but I'm not. If you've ever tried nutmeg, it's kind of like that, but it isn't as unpleasant as nutmeg.

Went back and checked the carton, it's one day expired, but it had been open for a few days, too.

Now, I wasn't too worried, but now I'm reading online that I may have something to worry about.

Any thoughts? Write a will?

I dont see why it would be a problem but if you still dont feel good in a day or so you might want to get it checked out

One day expired is nothing.  All dairy products are safe to consume for a few days after their best before date.

:what:

Wait, you stir-fried milk and chocolate mix? WTF

No, I didn't stir fry milk and chocolate milk.

I just heated up the milk in a wok so that I could put it in the imported hot chocolate mix.

It's not like I have a pot... just the wok. It works just as good, since it has a cover (that I borrowed from my second wok).

-----

And as for the adding cannabis...

...I added hashish.

-----

All is fine though, I probably got over paranoid, as mentioned.

I've just never smelled milk that had the smell of cheese. It's not like I smell that much milk though.

The thing that worried me was that this isn't pasteurized milk. This is straight from the cow to the carton fresh milk. I should really read the package before I buy it. Last time I got homo milk, the time before that I got milk-water and the time before that I got sterilized milk. All taste terrible, other than fresh milk, when it's not expired.

Raw milk is much better for you anyway. It just spoils a lot faster.
That pasteurized/homogenized shit is bad. Very important minerals, enzymes, and essential acids are killed in that process.

i have been unable to find raw milk in the suburbia i live. i'm guessing the stores here don't choose to carry it because of its shelf time.

I was just at my buddy's house last night and his milk expired about two weeks ago and I poured a glass having not looked at the date yet. It came inches from me drinking it and the most rancid smell over came my senses and I threw it in the sink and saved the day. :sip:

Reminds me of this time i put some milk in a glass and mixed it up with instant breakfast, not really paying attention. Well I thought it tasted a little bitter but figured it was the instant breakfast. Well in the end I shit my brains out and went back to the milk and it pretty much was cottage cheese, tons of chunks... I mixed em up with the spoon so i didn't notice, and i couldn't taste it because of the flavoring. You'll be fine.

all cheese is is rotten milk. The same applies to youghurt and kefir

But in the case of cheese and yogurt, the milk is spoiled by non-disease causing organisms.

If you drink spoiled milk, you may or may not get sick depending on whether or not you swallowed enough disease-causing microorganisms to overwhelm your immune response.

good old stomach acid will take care of any organisms unless it was botulism or something similar, but then the milk would have smelled foul not cheesy.
