Greetings Stefan.
haha.. I love when you ask for feedback and all you get back is a couple posts saying 'good track!!!1" Yes, I guess we should be thankful for anyone taking there time to post in the feedback threads...it does take a certain amount of effort.
Well, before I give my feedback, let it be known that this is coming from a guy who likes psybiant, chill, and some trance.... I'm really selective about anything faster then that. I love clean beats, soundscapes and organic sounding samples.
Your Track: The beginning was cool, I was waiting for the bongos to build up and come in with the beat but they stopped and were replaced by the main, fast kicks. With this sort of track...the percussion really makes or breaks it. In this case, I just didn't feel the beat. I wanted to hear a more driving kick...it sounded more like an acoustic drum hit. That alone might have made it more engaging.
When the snare comes in, I would have started playing with kick drum patterns (follow some of those synth patterns) and would have made the snare a bit more powerful. Even the high-hats sound really fruity loopsish...they didn't help the beat flow at all.
The syth patterns sounded good and you got that whole electronic soundscape going... just make the percussion more engaging and then I would be able to get totally lost in it!

I know it's not a terribly useful comment. I'd add more if I could, but I'm not one for criticizing unless it sucks. And, IMO, it didn't suck

well, I was kind of being sarcastic...or trying to be funny (both of which might have failed...I'm tired as hell atm). I'm always thankful when someone gives a good 'ole "Nice track!"

haha thanks, glad you liked it! thats always a good thing to hear ofcoarse
Toddo, thanks for the comments, I'll see what I can do!
the kick actually is an acoustig drum hit, but from where I listen it beats pretty hard I chose a more 'real' kick for a more natural feel. The hihats didn't came out like I wanted them to after all, so I'll try to fix it, and also to don't stop the bongo's immediately after the intro.

i dont know anything about psytrance if thats what this is
but i like the mood of it. has a certain eerie sneakyness too it i always like and i love acidy synths tones. in that respect it was really good.
the mix: it sounded slightly thin somehow. the kick drum definately needs more low-end even when i turned the volume right up it was lacking that little bit of punch and 'thud' which a could should give. when u really crank it up the kick should be felt aswell as heard imo.
overall the mix needs much more sub. its what the kids love! and some thicker drums for when the track peaks.
all in all its a nice track. great mood and some juicey squelchy acid tones. but it lacks the beef!
good work
============================================== not to be a whore but posted a topic with a few of my tracks linked into. so if u fancy a listen...

thanks for the feedback
first I had too much lows, and I guess I cut them too drastic! let me fix that, so that you'll feel the kick

here's a new version with a more driving kick also made the intro slightly different and a part somewhere in the middle. I'm still not completely done yet

i like it, man. the only thing that i dont care for is on a few different occasions during the song you have a snare on the 1. to me, a snare on the 1 lays waste to any kind of groove you have established.
also, if you speed it up by 5 or so bpm, you avatar will be dancing perfectly to it... which would own

now that's a good comment, I'll do something with it because nobody wants to waste a groove!

didn't listen to the second update.
on the first one:
yeah i have to agree that kick sucks. i'm no so concerned about the beat being thin.
i would say if you're trying to make psy either make the melodies more complex or have them running through different phazors
also i would say try and get the reverb to be "brighter". the whole song sounds far away and lacks any synths that really get in your face.
hope that helps.
you made some interesting sounds in there, what'd you use

well I now deleted the first version to prevent people listening to that one
still, the reverb is kinda dark, maybe I'll try and see how i like it a little brighter

Wow, this piece has changed a lot from your first thread. I wish I had your talent for working with complex acidic patterns and synths; it would add an interesting dimension to some of my pieces. My main strengths are beats and occasionally melodies. BUT, enough about me.
As far as I'm concerned, this song has little to improve upon as it is right now. As some other posters said, I'd definitely change the kick though. It sounds out-of-place. I'd reccomend browsing any sample site you can find for psy-specific kicks. It would make a world of difference for this song. Also, the snare. I'd definitely consider a different one, or a new sample altogether. It sounds like something out of a MIDI soundkit, which takes away from its professionality. Everything else sounds pretty solid to me, honestly.
Beat-wise, having the snare on 1 isn't too big of a deal IMO; it's not something you hear often, so I'd stick with it. Just try to execute it in a way so it doesn't detriment the flow of your beat.

stefan, about the reverb, my suggestion is have one that you want more atmospheric in the background and keep the reverb on that one the way it is. pick another one and turn reverb off, but put on a slight delay. third one use stero wideners (mine is shitty, so you may not get what i mean with the third sound sample.
here is a little thing i made to show what i mean.
this is just what i do when i want to layer "reverb" without having the whole thing sound far away.

I think I used a too big room size I'm still experimenting with reverb and trying out a lot to see what sounds best, finding the ultimate reverb is tricky! I'll try they delay thing, but within the same reverb first (because I had it kinda like that first, but I changed it). It could use a little more 'wettness'
ps lot's of good feedback in this thread
