It is not surprising that Windsor County Sens. John Campbell and Dick McCormack signed a letter disapproving of the actions taken by Gov. Jim Douglas to order three state law enforcement agencies to bypass Windsor County State's Attorney Robert Sand's office when pursuing "significant" marijuana cases. It is also not surprising to know that the letter was signed by 11 House members, all Democrats and Progressives. I applaud Sen. Alice Nitka, D-Windsor, for not signing this letter.
Senator Campbell has referred to Judge Martha Davis as a "model citizen" because she is a lawyer, a judge, is 61 years old, and might be a first-time offender. I do not know about you, Senator Campbell, but a judge who has knowingly been breaking the law while sitting on the bench handing out justice to others is not a model citizen. A model citizen, Senator Campbell, is someone who upholds and respects the rule of the law.
Judge Davis was caught with two and a half pounds and 32 marijuana plants flourishing in an indoor growing room. Davis was charged with felony cultivation and possession of marijuana, but State's Attorney Sand offered her court diversion, a program that allows the offender to do community service, with the charges being dropped upon completion. This amounts to nothing more than a get-out-of-jail-free card. Even the program officials within the court diversion program said that, given the felony charge and amount of marijuana confiscated, it was an unusual step. Only two suspects out of about 200 cases in felony marijuana cases were accepted into court diversion in the last year.
Sand is an outspoken critic of drug laws and feels many illegal drugs should be decriminalized. Sand has said, "All I can do is promise the people of Windsor County I have their interest and safety in mind." What a joke! Try upholding the laws we have in place, Mr. Sand, or remove yourself from your position.
Senator Campbell, you are playing a very dangerous political game that might just come back to haunt you. I know I will remember your name come next election.
As of this writing, Judge Davis has been removed from the list of approved attorneys to sit on family court cases.

Wow... I'm a little lost for words. That's quite a dramatic article, on several fronts.
She'll end up in jail though, I bet. Just like Jessica Simpson.

She'd damn well better end up in jail.
Or that's corruption.
On the otherhand, I really hope she doesn't end up in jail.
Because if she didn't, that would be corruption. And that's damn clear as day corruption.
Time to get things changed!
