first go to www.utorrent.com and download that and install it. then go to www.mininova.org and type in whatever u want to download. Then when you choose what program to open the filewith open it with utorrent.

There are tutorials all over, but basically, it is a worthless endeavor for anything other than the most popular media. You can find tons of movies, tv-shows, etc with torrents, but for the hard-to-find videos, like your Pink Floyd stuff (I've tried many of them myself!) you're going to get nothing.
The way it works is: A bit-torrent file is tiny and just identifies exactly what file you are after. The actual torrent manager (use BitTorrent) goes out and finds people who have the matching torrent file (just a nametag) and starts transferring it to you.
I just got netflix. Love it.
edited: Wikipedia has a great summary here.

Again, the .torrent file is nothing more than a nametag for a file. Your bittorrent manager will create the actual media files once a source has begun transferring the file to you.

If there is one band on earth that deserves getting paid for their work...
It's Pink Floyd.
On the other hand, they really don't make it easy to get copies of that stuff, and at that point, they should open up the copyright for non-profit use =)

It would be nice there are a few "bootlegging" sites but then you got a deal with not getting your copies you traded for and bullshit like that.
