As many of you know, LSD (mushrooms too) can be used to disconnect from addictive behavior.
About 6 months ago my work got really hard, and I think it will relax in a month from now, but 6 months ago I took up cigarettes for the stress.
at 56 I think I am really too old to be fooling around with cigarettes, so last friday I started using 1/8 of a blotter of LSD every other day, in the morning just to have the tiny edge that it might give me to help refrain from the habituated act of smoking or bumming a cigarette from a co-worker.
It has made my concentration much better at work for programming, but I am a bit prone to giggle.
today's little piece of blotter might have been close to 1/4, but i got a lot of good work done, and the 20 mile drive home in the rain and traffic (7 hours later)was gorgeous, I was much more aware of much longer lines of vehicles carrying people, and the lights from each car in each lane were feathered just the right amount for driving home after work.
good medicine. No cigarettes in 6 days.

That sounds like a great idea. I don't think enough of us really get into the lower doses and how helpful they can be.
I spent a couple of weeks drinking low doses of ayahuasca every night (or every other night, depending), eventually culminating in a heavy purge, a light trip, and an end to my addiction to cigarettes.
I am now one of those people who can light up occasionally, but not have to smoke. This honestly works in practice too, this is the first I have thought about smoking in several weeks. I am not a slave to it anymore.
I had a very divided opinion on tobacco. On one hand, I was terribly addicted to it, it was hurting my body, and I kind of hated it. ON the other, I knew it was an ancient sacred plant in the very mysterious solanaceae family, I had several trips reminding me of the holiness of tobacco, and I kind of loved it.
I eventually was able to unify my two opposing opinions and develop a healthy relationship with tobacco by following one rule. I think this rule is more important than anything whan smoking tobacco.
Don't inhale! The smoke stays in your mouth, and never enters your lungs. All nicotine enters your bloodstream buccally. If you are an addicted smoker, this method will never satisfy your craving, so you should just quit cold turkey for a few weeks, then try it.
But now, this seems like the ultimate smoking secret to me.

That's awesome man. I've felt the benefits of psychedelics to help me rewire old behavior patterns and kick bad habits. It is good medicine.
I once knew a guy who was withdrawling from opiates and took a high dose of acid and shrooms during withdrawl. It sounds crazy, but it actually seemed to help him.
