Comfort Food

For me, it's Kraft Dinner and Porridge. Not together.
I could make my own KD on the stove when I was about 7 years old. My mom bought it by the case. Munchies? KD time. Parents late coming home from work? KD time. Girl guide night? KD time. Birthday party? KD with hotdogs!
Porridge is that breaky staple to start the day off right. It's hot and it fills you up...and it's full of all kinds of good nutrients. I remember my mom standing at the stove stirring a pot of porridge every single morning of my childhood.
There's nothing better for my tummy on a cold November morning.
What's your comfort food?

Chili, served up spicy in a bowl and topped with cheese and onions, with triscuit or chips for dipping, or just some nice toast (garlic toast if available).
I mentioned this the other week 'round here, but I'll say it again.
One of my favorite breakfasts is to take a split english muffin, toast it and top with cheese (this is the one time I actually prefer Kraft American singles!.. but some sharp cheddar will certainly suffice), then top that cheesy english muffin with an over-easy egg (soft yolk), then top that with some scoops of spicy chili, then top that with a handful of green onions. It's a true mountain man breakfast!
I actually have a picture of this on my camera that I took the day before I left for my Thanksgiving travelling, but I don't have my USB cable here so I can't offload it from the flash card at the moment. I'll have to share this in all its saturated glory someday!
And yeah, I've never even heard of Kraft porridge! If I ever see some, I might have to try it.

Guys can have comfort food. It's not a gender biased thing. I think steak would be a hugely popular one.
And yes, Kraft Dinner is the Canadian version of Kraft Mac N Cheez.

"comfort food" reminds me of an emo teenager that eats a lot of ice cream, I don't understand how eating food can make you feel better about anything.

Comfort food is an applied "mental tool" or "mental quantification" in order to feel better at that particular moment. I won't knock anyone for using a tool if it benefits them.

Mashed potatoes. Yum. Of course with way too much sour cream, butter, cheese, garlic, etc.
And steak. Steak always makes me feel good.
