14 days after inoculation no signs of life. Should i be worried?

The topic is fairly self explanatory but ill try and elaborate.
I had 2 syringes with around 12cc of solution. I inoculated 16 jars total. I had 2 slightly larger jars so i gave them extra solution. 14days later. the 2 larger jars are looking good. Early signs of mycelium but nothing extensive. As for the rest of the jars, only 1 is showing any growth and its so small i almost missed it.
My concern is: By stretching the spore solution i may have ruined my chances of the mycelium taking hold. Is this the case or is it just gonna take much much longer to colonize?
Looking at other peoples threads on their grow progress they seem to show better signs of growth after just 7 days than mine have in twice that.
Is this worth worrying about or should i just go back to waiting patiently for them to begin colonization?

hey man, im no expert but im pretty sure its just going to take a bit longer. once the myc starts getting thick its like it just starts growing fast. how much cc's did you put in each jar and whats the size of the jars?

I think 1.5 CC per 1/2 pint is plenty, you should have seen some growth by now. Do you have open holes for gas exchange? Is this your first grow? If so, you will probably fuck it up because almost everyone does. Try try again and you will get closer and closer. It took me like 3 tries before I ended up getting fully grown mushies.

i followed the pf tek guide.
so ive got glasses with 2 layers of foil over the top. 1 with 4 holes in , the other without.
i was fairly rigorous in following the guide so i dont see what i could have done wrong.
any1 else have a view point?

What's the ambient temp where you keep the jars? When you inoculated them, were the jars cooled down enough? Take off the foil that's covering the holes and leave the holes exposed for gas exchange, as I was told to do, after doing this I immediately saw growth, could have been a coincidence, but RR says holes are good for gas exchange and the dry layer of verm on top acts as the filter.
Good luck!

A breakthrough!
i finally got hold of a thermometer.
it turns out the cupboard i was 'incubating' the jars in was averaging around 18C. which explains the slow growth. some cunning rigging work with a few towels and a radiator and ive spent the last few hours turning it into a light oven. i just need to make sure i dont over do the heating and they'll be all set.
wooooo!

Take that foil off of there. The vermiculite is protecting against contamination, and all the foil is doing is hindering gas exchange. Keep your jars around 80F, and you'll see growth soon enough.
Good luck

You guys missed what he said. He has glasses with foil over ala the tek on fungifun. That is, he's not using jars. There is nothing more than foil as lids.
So don't take them off!

nO he has 2 layers of foils, 1 with the holes in it, and another over them. So yes take the foil off, though personaly i have incuabted all my jars with the foil loosly on and had no problems.
The temps are your issue, get it to room temperature and you should see growth start to rocket in the next few days.

The temp was his biggest issue I think but while he's at it, take the top foil off and leave on the one with holes, should be more than enough for good gas exchange. After doing this, the growth rate of myc accelerated exponentially in my jars.

it was at room temperature before. my room is just slightly cold.
i think ive fixed the problem. we'll see over the next few days.

Yep, the tek doesn't advise to remove the outer layer and I would not. The foil is not even close to as airtight as a jar lid is so it should not be a problem.
