so my latest experiment taught me a few things:
1. colonized pans of poo will eat holes in tin lasagna pans. some kind of chemical reaction i suppose?
2. if kept at the right humidity with an occasional spraying, 5-6 or even 7 flushes are totally possible..although the last couple will only produce 1 or 2 huge fatties.
3. wax paper is awesome! but it works even better with a 1/4" casing layer of verm
3b. wax paper is frikin awesome!
4. wbs is really fast spawn if done right.
5. temperature control really doesn't matter as much as is stressed in this forum. 70-85 is fine for fruiting.
6. speaking of temperature. if you have 8 colonizing pans of poo stacked on eachother, the one on the bottom will reach well over 100 degrees and crust over on top with dead myc.
7. coolmists run fine for long periods with no water in them.
welp i learned a whole lot more than that but those were the things that stuck out throughout it all. mom's coming for the holidays so i suppose it's time to pack it all up hehe.

The manure isn't eating the holes in the aluminum, the mushroom metabolites are. I have a mushroom that was sent for metals testing after harvesting from the tray pictured below. I should know within a few days if aluminum was conducted up into the fruit body. We know that heavy metals end up in the fruits, but as far as I know, nobody has ever had a fruit professionally tested for aluminum contamination.
Wax paper works well. When I first proposed the idea a few years ago, people thought I must have fallen down and bumped my head or something. Actually, it just helps provide a humid micro climate right at the surface where primordia form. RR
