Their space is being encroached upon and the same w/ African and Asian tigers and elephants but, with those larger animals, there are many more harmful results to property and sometimes humans if push comes to shove. A goose can hiss atcha pretty fiercely but they're "sitting ducks" otherwise.

(Adom...you didn't answer my curious question dear...)

C. Geese can really mess up a park...ever slipped on or even just walked through an area they covered in the green yuck they leave behind? Not fun. I wouldn't shoot em though.

Camping on a very remote Minnesotan/Canadian lake as a kid, I will never forget hearing the loons in the morning and evenings before heading out to fish. Anytime I hear the sound on TV or a movie, I am right back there, remembering all those great times times.

I remember a few years ago some state in the US was going to start hunting Canadian Geese...and hunting them to extreme. Of course people in Canada got really upset over this. I think the general sentiment was along the lines of "well if you are going to make it legal to kill Canadian Geese...we will just make it legal to kill Bald Eagles!"

:smirk:

canada geese are like rats with wings here...they are so comfy in suburbia with cornfields and parks etc to graze in..they dont leave anymore. Its a local population. the dnr was letting you shoot 5 a day and if one makes a nest on your land you can take the egg. In some office parks you see goose roadkill everywhere.

I totaly agree, they shit up all the golf courses too!

In some areas they are training dogs to chase them away, it seems not to be working well. Locally we have hundreds of them!

Now tell me your opinion of the description made by the original writer...a young Canadian tripper. He posted to the Canadian Winter Gathering thread...that's how we "virtually" met.

It's so cool...to play and connect...to 'sing' a duet at pre-dawn with a loon...
