I got a 500gig hard drive a few weeks ago for 100$ free shipping... its all about searching out the good deals online.

On another note, I start work at 4am because of this 'black friday'. I'm working a 16 hour shift.

Hehe.. I've never even heard of this sale-holiday until today. Apparently, they have buses going from here, Calgary, down to the states to get in on the good deals. Crazy!

man.. i'm worried. the 22" monitor i plan to get from target isn't showing up on its website anymore. that's like the only actual "black friday" deal that i planned to take advantage of.

i just bought my dad's watch off of amazon... normally $130, got it for $65, so i don't have to worry about that one. i don't have all too many people to buy for this year.. so i can't really think of any other deals i want to capitalize on.

Newegg.com

I'm being a lazy bastard right now and I REALLY don't feel like searching it down. To be honest, I had to put effort into even posting this response. Anyway...neweggs a great site for finding cheap stuff but its only one of a couple of gold sites for hunting down those deals.

A lot of stuff isn't actually cheaper they just shoot the prices up before Christmas than lower them as a holiday "sale".

All is a miracle.” -Thich Nhat Hanh

i always browse newegg. always, always, always. like even when i'm not looking to buy stuff. it's a little pasttime of mine to fantasize about the uber-awesome setup i could have if i were rich. but anyways, i've been looking into a lot of these black friday sales, and they're beating out newegg significantly.

for the holidays, newegg lowered the price of the acer al2216wbd 22" widescreen lcd monitor from $250 to $200 + $14 shipping. circuit city has the same monitor on sale today for $170 + tax. they've also got a 500g seagate external HDD for $80. which really, really has me kicking myself for having spent the same amount on my 250g WD external just two weeks ago (especially since it's slow as hell, and i'm really not satisfied).

circuit city also has a dvd/vcr combo on sale for $50, which is exactly what me mum wanted, so that'll make it easy. not to mention 50 pack DVD (+ & -) for $4 and CDRs for $5. and tons of other stuff. but that's just the stuff i plan on picking up at 5am this morning.

I don't care if I can save a few bucks, I'm not gonna face those crowds. I'll do my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve like usual cause I'm a last minute type person.

yeah, i gotta be honest, i'm really, really not looking forward to the crowds at all. i fucking hate having my actions limited by moronic crowds that surround me.

traffic, lines, whatever. they piss me off to no end. however, i'm willing to make the sacrifice to grab some gifts for a good deal. this once at least. this may very well be my last time attempting it.

And another thing, that "Buy Nothing Day" was popular amongst my peers when I was attending a liberal college. I always thought it was goofy. Anyone that anti-Capitalistic should just pack up and move to North Korea.

that's because of the way it's being handled. there's no incentives for big business to not outsource. the gov't let's them roam free. the answer isn't to not buy anything. it's to buy selectively. support businesses that support the economy.

unfortunately, for everyone to buy selectively is completely idealistic and impossible. and i'm sure as hell not the one to start a movement. so i'll just keep my plan to go to circuit city in 3.5 hrs and buy shit on sale.

$2.99 DVDs and $20 games (if I can get to the store in time) from Best Buy. My girlfriends store has all new PC games for $20 but only for the first 100 copies of each for that specific day.

$2.99 DVDs for all movies released on DVD in 06 or later. All 07 DVDs are $7.50 but I am not sure what the catch is on this deal.
