I suspect Panaeolus foenisecii or some type of Psathyrella.

i've found foeniseciis that look like that and print purple-brown...
what's your reasoning?
doesn't sound active to me.

edit: actually, that specimen with the distinct umbo definitely looks more convincing than any of the others...did you make prints for each specimen, or just one?

Looks like Panaeolus subbalteatus to me as well. Better macro pics of the gills and a nice dark spore print would help confirm the ID.

Subbs will print absolutely black.
If it turns out to be Subbs you will need a couple ounces of those. You will either become sick and tired of looking for them to get enough or you will get addicted to the hunt and you won't be able stop looking for them. (like me)
Also I should say that since the temperatures have dropped so much, you are much more likely to find Foes now than Subbs.
Not to say you won't find Subbs but the Foes are out more now.
Have fun.

wel i look the picture and can´t undestand how a purple print will come out , but i remenber how i have trouble to diferenciate ,spore color sometimes i mean purple brown can be tricky to understand , because it has his own variatiion, and the only mushrooms that not resemble paneolus is the one on top in the right may be a psathyrella. the other should be black , can you post a picture of the spore print i can garanty is not brown but i could be wrong

word.
i thought subbs tend to have a more distinct band/girdle on the pileus than that, but it's true those don't look psathyrella.
if you want a definitive ID, post pics of spore prints! remember to let them print for a good while. 24hrs is not overkill!

Only at certain stages of dryness.

subbs tend to be banded when younger, and will crack like the cap that's gills down in the pic when they get older and dry. You should definitely cover them with a cup or bowl when printing them for an extended period of time, or you'll end up with dried little caps. Also, it keeps the maggots from crawling too far away...
The one that's not gills down doesn't look at all like a subb to me. YMMV.

Huh. They LOOK like Panaeolus to me, but maybe not P. subbalteatus. I wouldn't rule it out, because so many of the distinct Panaeolus look so damn similar, considering the extent of phenotypic variation within species alone. Ugh.
I'm not so sure on that spore print colour. Sounds like it might be too light of a print. Also, it can be hard to tell black from brown from purple when you stare at it for so long. Having prints side by side helps.

Thanks for the responses. I'll pick a few more this coming week, dig out my better camera and get a proper spore print.
