pre-inoculated 2-liter substrate grow-kits

I had a cool idea, I think...
I am considering making some pre-inoculated 2-liter type grow-kits for other people. The idea is that I do all the tedious sterile work, and I take care of the problem of obtaining good spores, substrate, and casing.
After that, they could make amazing gifts, or etc. That way, I think a lot of people would really get to see the natural and interesting process of the full mushroom life-cycle. This isn't limited to any type of substrate or mushroom species , so I'm thinking that this is a great idea for gifts over holidays, birthdays, or just to be generous.
Does anyone see potential here, or has anyone tried it and had success growing in small containers like this? I've seen some pictures of tiny grow-kits in 2-liters a few times, so I think it's do-able.
I for one am pretty stoked about the idea of sharing my hobby with my friends, so I'll try whipping up a few kits and posting pics or maybe a setup tutorial for 2-liters once I work out the details.
The reason I posted is that I think this is a good idea for a lot of people... so give it a shot if you like, and open up a few people to the fun involved in growing your own mushrooms.

Except bringing mushroom cultivation further into our society is only going to end up hurting our community IMO. If you do it, do it only over the internet. It's a bigger market and its more confidential.

hmm, why would popularizing mycology hurt the community, instead of helping it, bryanbzl?
I'm curious, because my intentions are partly to increase acceptability of mushroom growing and so on. Do you mean you would just like to keep the actual techniques "secret" so people don't recognize it?

I think people would have to be interested in the subject first. It would take a special by Oprah to get it popular to the masses! When I start talking to people about how much more food the world could have if we just focused more on mushrooms and other alternate food sources their eyes generally glaze over.
Maybe i'm just a boring person to begin with i don't know.
The Point being, mycology and mushroom farming is a very niche market and when people get Shiitake logs for gifts for loved ones the last thing they're thinking about is P. Cubensis Shrooms so I don't see how that would hurt the community.

You don't have to be "into" mycology to appreciate how interesting it is to have one sitting on your counter from barely colonized to full grown, then being able to eat what's left over, just like many vegetable growers do.
Not many people get to see how interesting mushrooms can be, at least where I live, and I'd think it would make a good novelty gift for people which would also have significance to you, the gift-giver.
added:
It's not like people just randomly get into the hobby... it took someone sharing with me to get me into it, and I wouldn't mind sharing with other people I know who might end up part of the community too.
