it is suggested that no one consumes the yellow variety. there are many lookalikes spreading across the PNW of the past few years that are reported poisonous.
that and many of the yellow variety are quite strong, many have reported experiences that are more than they bargained for!!!

There are a bunch of undescribed Amanita species that look very much like your photos, and nothing is known about what toxins they may have in them. While it's unlikely that they would kill you, there is a very good chance that they will make you very sick.
Even if they turned out to be exactly what you think you're looking for, the vast majority of people I've spoken with about "active" Amanitas say that they wouldn't take them again (the ratio is more than 50:1). So don't waste time hunting for something you probably won't want if you find it.
Here in Colorado the active Amanitas as a group account for the majority of emergency room visits for mushroom poisonings where we can make some determination of what they ate. A high percentage of the people who try them get so sick that they decide to get to an emergency room. If I were looking for something fun to do, anything that produces results like that would pretty much be off of my list.
Happy mushrooming!

There should be a sticky thread about the nonsense involved with amanita's and cheap thrills involved. Amanita's are very dangerous and I think a majority of folk's just underestimate them as a potential kick in the ass.
