I have a terrible memory. Events, lyrics, days just pass by and I cannot remember anything. It sucks. What are some mental excesses that can help out? Or some supplements I know ginko biloba is good for memory.

They might help a little, but don't expect any great changes. Have you always been this way?

All this time I've loved you And never known your face All this time I've missed you And searched this human race Here is true peace Here my heart knows calm Safe in your soul Bathed in your sighs

Yea my memory has always been shitty. But I stopped smoking weed for a while and no change. Like I can't remember lyrics for the life of me which sucks. Maybe it is the way I think about things. I never dwell much on prior events and sorta just always look forward never look behind ie no regrets. This is probably due to whenever I look in the past I get a sense of hopelessness and emptiness so I just think about the now and the future. Mostly the now.
I am just permenently high I think.

For how long did you quit smoking MJ? I have/had the same problem and quit smoking for as long as six months at one point. The period after seemed to be pretty clear minded and was able to recall information alot easier. I started smoking again and used other drugs pretty heavily. Surprise! My memory and clarity again faded. I think it does have alot to do with how you think and how much attention you give to day to day events. For example, I probably won't remember making this post tomorrow. Though the act of saying I won't remember, i've observed, will make it more likely for me to think of the post and actually remember. Strange huh?
I remember playing the game concentration as a toddler and was often told throughout my earlier years how my memory amazed some (especially short-term, *also maybe related to working memory). I was able to not study for quizzes and exams throughout secondary school and score A's. This ability has crept away from me.
Play games with yourself. Try remembering little things you see everyday maybe on the way to work? Such as numbers, phrases on billboards or whatever. As you get better with these, try to expand the amount you are remembering and I'm sure it will get better.
Though many around this forum say such a thing does not exist, anxiety and depression are known to interfere with the forming of new memories. I think this points more toward the "different way of thinking"
