Cakes for Casings Questions (Almost a tongue-twister:)

Sorry this question has been probably asked a million times, but i am new to the forum and have not seen any posts related.
I was wondering if you can take a PF Tek Cake and break it up for casing after a 2nd or 3rd flush with any good fruiting results. Or are the cakes completely spent after the final flushes?
And whats the maximum amount of flushes you can you expect out of a cake.

you can crumble and case after a couple of flushes without a problem as long as the cake still has available nutrients and water you will get a flush. you should of cased it to begin with if your worried about how many grams you going to get.
there is alot of factors included into how many grams a cake will produce including but not limited to strain growing conditions and personal experience being a first time grower i would be happy with 3 dry grams a cake if i were you but 5-7 dry grams is not out of the question........what strain are you growing.

I would have cased, but this is my first attempt at growing, and PFtek seemed quite fool proof and a good start for a mycology newb. I am growing Gulf Island strain from spores101.ca

The other option is to crumble them and put them outside. Outside, you might get another few flushes, temperature willing.

Casing cakes on their own is a waste of time. Dunking and Rolling gives identical if not bigger yeilds.
On the other hand, using the cakes as spawn for some bulk substrate, adds nutrients and so yeild will be bigger.
If you feel like using your old cakes as spawn after a few flushes by all means do so. It won't produce as good results as using the cakes straight away, or using grain, but if you can't be bothered to make some jars of spawn it can be a good way to get a few more shrooms.
I suggest you increase the spawn/substrate ratio to make up for the fact that the old mycelium is probably going to be slower starting off as it has been weakened by the previous fruitings
