Is this cobweb?
    #7651320 - 11/18/07 03:12 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

So i inniculated like 5 jars. Two with B+ prints and three with an Ecuador syringe. There are all WBS jars. It's been around 5 days since then and in one of the small B+ jars i see this little growth but it looked kinda different then usual mycelium. So i let it go another night and this is how it looks right now. Is this cobweb?

And on the bright side the other big B+ jar I THINK is getting some normal mycelium growth.

Am i right?

100_1159.jpg is mold. The other two are too blurry.

100_1157.jpg, 100_1156.jpg are healthy.

It's either cobweb or the beginning of trichoderma. I had some of the exact same looking stuff in two of my jars and then it sporulated and turned green .

So is that really mycelium in my second jar?

And should i get rid of the first jar now?

You could keep it as a conversational piece and see how far it goes before it learns to speak O.o

I would say that the first pictures are of trich. You can wait a little bit longer to see it turn green since the jar is more or less isolated. You might want to keep it in a different area for piece of mind. The biggest indicator for contamination is how much further along it is than the other (bottom pics), healthy looking jar. Contams generally take a hold and colonize a lot quicker than normal mycelium. As far as I can see, the bottom pics look like healthy mycelium.

Trich myc is very dense and that mold is not trich. I'm not sure what the name of that particular mold in the pics, but I've seen it grow on grains that I soaked and forgot about and left out.

I separated them so that's not a worry for me now.

But your sure it was a contam correct? It had little black spores that you could see it germinated from.
