The wife of a Jeffersonville police officer accused of possessing marijuana in two counties and illegally buying prescription medications in Clark County, has had one of the charges against her dismissed, but still faces a trial that could put her in prison for seven years.
Stacy L. Blunk, 33, of Charlestown, had been charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana in Floyd County Circuit Court, and was scheduled for a pre-trial conference on that charge Friday. However, court records show the charge against her was dismissed on Thursday.
Blunk could spend up to seven years in prison if convicted of the charges against her in Clark County Circuit Court — two D felony counts of unlawful possession of a legend drug and one count misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Blunk, whose husband Cpl. Kent Blunk is not linked to the case, is scheduled for a jury trial Feb. 12.
Those charges stem from the night of June 12, when a Jeffersonville police officer called Indiana State Police Trooper Robert L. Blanton on his cellular phone and informed him he suspected Blunk of being involved in a drug deal, according to court records. Blunk, wearing nursing scrubs, was parked in front of the American Legion on Court Avenue. The officer asked Blanton to obtain probable cause to stop the vehicle, preferably outside Jeffersonville city limits, records say. Blunk’s husband has served as a Jeffersonville police officer for 11 years.
The Jeffersonville officer kept Blanton advised on Blunk’s direction of travel. When troopers clocked her going 17 miles over the speed limit at Tenth Street and Sellers Drive, they stopped her. During the traffic stop, ISP Master Trooper Jeff Kellogg asked Blunk if they could search her Ford Mustang. Kellogg told Blunk she had the right to decline the search. Blunk consented to the search, where troopers found marijuana in a plastic bag, records say. They arrested her, and upon further search they found more marijuana, rolling papers, plastic baggies, and pills inside a prescription bottle with its label partially removed, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The ISP trooper took Blunk to the post in Sellersburg so he could speak with her, records say. That officer, along with another Jeffersonville police officer, questioned Blunk. ISP learned through poison control that the pills were Zoloft and Seroquel, which are non-narcotic antidepressant and anti-psychotic medications.
The Jeffersonville police officers involved told ISP troopers that Blunk was willing to give information on her drug dealer, and requested she not be arrested. Though she was released at that time, she was arrested in mid-September on the charges she is set to stand trial for. Because she was in jail less than nine minutes before a $5,000 court cash bond was posted for her, a photograph of her was not taken.
A telephone call to Floyd County Deputy Prosecutor Chris Lane, regarding the dismissed charge, was not returned as of publication deadline Saturday. Blunk did not have a telephone number or attorney listed in court records.

If you repent all is forgiven, at least, when you die.
People quickly forget that is Gods law not mans law.

Seven years for two felony possession charges? I can see our country is heading in the right direction.
